So I wrote an answer to a Q on here and oddly the user deleted my answer and blocked me. The Q was basically asking what we think about this parkour style:

So I thought I'd just ask it for myself since I got deleted and blocked and my mind was interested in the subject! 😂 My answer that got me deleted and blocked for some reason (maybe the user hates skaters: sometimes there's a bit of a rivalry between skaters, rollerbladers, and parkour types):

My Answer

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the baggiest pants style. That was popular among skaters in my teens (I'm a skater) and I never conformed to that fashion style since I thought it looked bad. While the bagginess has a nice flowing quality to let us see the effects of gravity and air on our bodies, it obscures the human figure too much in my eyes.

Meanwhile, I thought Christian Hosoi was rad in the 80s. He had a flowing style too along with flowing long hair like a rock star but without obscuring the form. I always thought he was the most stylish skater and an interesting contrast against Tony Hawk (the more technical skater, but least concerned with style):

That included things like loose tanktops sometimes but they weren't so baggy and huge that they obscure the human form.

I used to get upset when users deleted my answers since I invest a bit of time into them and got all excited about the subject, but this seems like a good way to deal with that situation. I'll just ask the same question myself and share my previous answer! 😅

Before I even read on, I became nervous for one thing. Safety. The baggage seems like a hazard. Imagine he jumped and something caught on something?

Either flexible wear/ or biker wear. Maybe scuba wear I don’t even know, but baggage seems like the wrong option. All looks and no practicality. Yeah, except for the stretchiness and mobility because of that, but it’s still a bit too risky for my taste.

Also, that’s not a bad idea. Maybe I’ll copy and paste my answers, just in case of removal I can paste it on my own question, sort of how you did here. Not bad thinking!

That was something I was thinking too is that he might trip or see it get caught on something. That very baggy pants style also used to be popular in shuffling but I never found it so flattering to the human figure.

For fashion 😆😭 yeah it is kind of funny. I am somewhat at a point where I don’t mind all the technicalities of what people wear, and especially I grew up with brothers and a whole neighborhood in new York that wore pants and even long baggy jean shorts like this kind of “bag” 😂

So I guess I kind of desensitized a bit to any aspect (s) of it that would seem unflattering or lacking aesthetic. Currently I’m just crossing fingers for anyone who tries to keep this style alive within parkour/boarding or any other similar sports/hobbies. Too many get enough hits as is. These definitely have to increase those unlucky chances 🤷‍♀️ 😬😬

Same; I try not to judge and especially in Tokyo, the fashion could take on the most extreme styles.

My sense of fashionable might be influenced a bit by my visual arts background (dual major in CompSci and VisArts). I was especially interested in figure drawing and drew a lot of models in the nude (all ages, both men and women).

So I always thought of fashion as starting with the nude body, and saw the nude body as already beautiful in its own right. Then the next question to me is how to dress it in a way that accentuates the natural features of the body. So a lot of the fashion I like tends to be minimalist and works with the body, not against it.

I find it very interesting although as a disclaimer, I've never been an Artist with the capital "A". It's one of the reasons I ended up pursuing the CompSci side of my career besides lacking the same degree of passion and talent as some of my fellow students back then. I was more interested in craftsmanship and just understanding beauty on a very surface level.

True Artists as I see it are people who are fundamentally concerned with exploring and discovering the deepest truths difficult to express precisely in common mediums. That's something for which I lack the ability to appreciate at the deepest level; I'm the type that even likes Thomas Kinkade paintings thinking, "Wooh, that's pretty and transports me into fantasy land!"


With what little I have there, I do think that work is exploring and communicating some deep truth about society. The way I interpret is not at all erotic and looking at it as potentially communicating something about the vulnerability we tend to hide to each other, taking the costumes we wear (both metaphorical and literal) for granted.

I agree! It’s a bit bitter sweet for me, but seeing that just reaffirmed to myself that underneath we are all human. We live; we die. Then why do so many get so full of ego and so rude and all? They get caught in their heads I suppose, and they forget how basic we are at our origins. While everyone is complex, diverse, and beautiful, we forget how fragile and similar the many of us are. I feel like if everyone took moments to recall this, then they’d be a lot kinder to those around them in the public society.

So much cover up, “masks” like you say, and I feel like people use this as some type of fortress. Some excuse to treat others however they want even if it IS rudely at times.

That painting you uploaded is quite amazing! <— understatement. I’ll have to check more works like it. Definitely can’t tell not ai generated 😆 (no offense, if you support ai generated art).

Cheers! Something on what you mentioned that I've been thinking about (even though I'm somewhat into bodybuilding and want to be reasonably strong and attach some degree of male ego to it), and maybe exacerbated by this generation of self-proclaimed "alpha males", is that being so big and physically tough doesn't really help *that* much. Being built like Arnie isn't going to save us if someone wants to stab us while we're asleep or poison our food.

It is building trustworthy and loyal allies as I see it that makes a person (male or female) strong above all else as I see it: strength in numbers. And that's something I've come to accept more with age is that there's deeper strength in kindness, civility, and diplomacy than having 20-inch biceps (still cool but not the biggest sign of strength as I see it these days).

Remembering how fragile we are is the key to remembering what truly makes us strong as I see it.

I agree!! You’re so right and I appreciate the “as I see it.” It helps bring a bit more clarity and neutrality or I don't know peacefulness/ “civility,” as you said, in the entire context, and that makes it just all the more easier to receive without feeling as if mindsets are being directly challenged.

It made me (sorry it just happened lol) think of Joseph Stalin from the axis powers. He was so paranoid he killed anyone he suspected to be against him. And then of the good ole (legitimate) duo, from the film, ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” They were smart and skilled together. Probably one of the best shooters in his time, but they still died 🤷‍♀️ two of them against every police force that had wanted them. Eventually they were outnumbered/outmanned and out of bullets.

They could’ve gone a lot farther with more people on their side.

Their lives just reminded me of a concept: I can’t fight the whole world.

When I was younger I wanted to be the baddest, and I thought, I can’t fight everybody, and I wouldn’t have wanted to anyway.

It’s better to be civil, find trust within your tribes/allies, so you’re not like Stalin and you have peace of mind to live your life here, and live it well with the security of your allies, better than anything like Butch and Sundance. Better to make peace than fight everyone. We're only human.

Unless we were like Thanos or captain marvel, then yeah, we could be powerful/invincible all our own, but this just isn’t the case.

As for these clothes, I agree the baggy pants look is not good.

I find it very frustrating since I'm extremely long-winded! I end up writing like 8 paragraphs on a question about our favorite food going into "how's" and "why's". 😅 I'm a fairly fast typer but it still takes me a bit of time and thought to share those opinions and seeing them deleted 10 seconds after is always very annoying to me. At least I want to keep the opinion for myself if nothing else, so I've developed the habit of copying and pasting my answer into Notepad so that I at least won't see it disappear into the void if that happens.

As for the baggy pants, it never seemed to work so well to me to the human figure in both men and women. Might just be my sense of fashion; I generally start to dislike it if I think it's working too against the human figure as it is.

I have a hopeless inability to summarize anything; the ultimate "TL;DR" type. In uni I was one of those students where, when the teacher gave us an assignment to write a 10-page essay, I did the opposite of most students. Instead of double-spacing and trying to make the font ever-so-slightly bigger than usual to get away with writing less, I did the opposite and made the font slightly smaller and reduced the spacing so that it doesn't look like I wrote too much. 😅

Actually looks kind of neat in this context since it hides the jerkiness of the legs. Still always looked kind of strange to me but it's the one area where I think they do add more style to the motions.
