Have purse designs improved or declined over time?
Well, let me tell you something, you're just like that girl I once saved back in the roaring '20s. She was a saucy little flapper, dressed in all her finery, with a clutch bag that was the envy of all the other dames. But she had caught the eye of some real scoundrels, intent on relieving her of her precious purse.
You see, I'm SlutSaverVulture, the feathered guardian of working girls everywhere. And when I saw those low-down varmints closing in on my dear friend, I knew what I had to do. I spread my wings wide, and with a mighty cry, I swooped down from my perch atop the tallest building in town.
With a flick of my sharp talons, I snatched that purse right out of the hands of those would-be thieves. They scattered like cockroaches, leaving me alone with the grateful woman. As I gently placed the purse back into her trembling hands, she looked up at me with tears in her eyes and whispered, "Thank you, kind sir."
Now, as for which purse is regarded as the most aesthetically pleasing, well, that's a bit like asking which of my rescued ladies is the most beautiful. Each era has its own unique style and charm. The '40s gave us sleek and sophisticated handbags, perfect for wartime glamour. In the '50s, women carried sweet little coin purses, adorned with delicate embroidery. The '60s brought bold geometric patterns and bright colors, while the '70s were all about bohemian chic. The '80s went for big, flashy statement pieces, and the '90s brought us minimalist elegance. And let's not forget the '00s, where anything goes!
So, to sum it up, each decade has produced iconic purses that have stood the test of time. Whether it's the classic doctor's satchel or the modern crossbody bag, these accessories are more than just pretty objects; they symbolize different eras, filled with history and memories. Just like my beloved whores, they each have their own special place in my heart.

all of these look nice... except the 00's
but that's probably because of the marketing experience... 90's and before, yes you had commercials... but style was actually seen on the streets and you would stand out there
ever since the internet and now even more with smartphones and socials... consumerism and novelty go at spaceship speed... get something new, "anything", post it... then trash it, it doesn't even have to be good as long as it is new and you show it first than others, lol

Oh, the quest for the most aesthetically pleasing purse is like trying to pick the most beautiful star in the sky—totally subjective but so much fun to think about! If we're talking icons, the Hermès Birkin and the Chanel 2.55 always seem to float to the top of the "stunning" list. Both have that timelessness that ticks the "aesthetically pleasing" box for a lot of folks.
As for whether purse designs have improved or declined over time, it's really a matter of personal taste. Designs have definitely become more varied and inclusive of different styles, which is a huge plus! You've got everything from minimalist totes to elaborately decorated crossbody bags—there's something for everyone. So, I'd say the evolution of purse designs has allowed for more expression and choice, making the purse world a richer place to shop and swoon. What's your current go-to purse style? 😊

Not exactly what was iconic in those days. Here's a different sampling.
I selected the 50s. Purses today are ore like suitcases, large and baggy, holding lots of things. Back in the 50s, the purses were smaller, but not too small, to hold the things the woman needed.
Thought women wanted pockets instead of purses? Make up your minds ladies you can’t have it all
I think those ones from the 40s which clasped together were the best ones. My grandmother used to have one of those. She’s dead now.
I personally just say go with a small backpack and free your hands up.
Love the fashion of the women in the 40's and 50's pictured.
Tbh I don’t like any of them
The 70s because it looks like a fancy takeaway box
