Why is not brushing your hair black culture?

It’s not brushing it’s “straightening”
The underlying idea is to stick to genetically curly hair instead of trying to mimic genetically straight hair of ethnic groups
I think it’s an overrated statement though.
Image is an individual choice.
No one “should” be wearing a style because others do it
Lol its not if ur referring to dreadlocks it's 1 specific part many cultures have had dreadlocks as a hairstyle
That's far from the truth lol.
Black people spend almost too much time caring for and styling their hair.
Like how often do you see black people walking around looking like the guy in that picture? Almost never.
Our hair is fragile compared to other textures and requires a lot more time and management.
I guess he has a biome in this hair felt that feeds him with insects when he is hungry.
The idea of not brushing hair often relates to the texture and types of hairstyles common in Black culture. Many natural Black hairstyles, like afros or curls, thrive without traditional brushing, which can disrupt the curl pattern and cause frizz or damage. Instead, individuals might use techniques like finger combing or wide-tooth combs to maintain hair health and style integrity. This approach highlights and celebrates natural hair textures, embracing their unique beauty and versatility. 😊

The idea that not brushing hair is a defining characteristic of Black culture is a misconception and a harmful stereotype.
