To be honest, it's not such a bad thing. I initiate contact with the man I've been seeing for a few weeks, now. And, he seemed to prefer it. I feel like it's one of the best kind of relationships that I've been in. :P
Don't be afraid to go after what you wabt due to some stupid putdated gender roles.
It's not taboo at all. Who's keeping a tally? If you want somebody you don't have to wear a sign saying go to my room. Initiate a conversation. Most guys are smart enough to see your interested and they'll talk back. If the interests mutual it'll be just like a first date. What's so hard about that? You can talk to strangers can't you?

I think you were over reacting and complicating things in your head because you were nervous about making such a move. I don't even think it's the case.
Does it really matter if you end up with the right person? Who cares if one person makes the first move? It's about finding that right person in finding that spark. I wish more women were aggressive!
Funny how when you step a single foot into the men's world, it suddenly becomes 'so much work'.
What's wrong if a woman makes the first move, it's absolutely fine. In fact that's an appealing quality, who cares about what society says or thinks.

Maybe they don't see the "shy modest girl in the corner" because she's doing absolutely nothing to get his attention or to approach him and initiate anything.
@InconspicuousBox but we don't want to look desperate and the guys then go like "oh look she tryna get me" and they lose interest
