What are signs that people are not interested?

I find that sometimes 'ignoring' can also be a game of playing hard to get. I have done that and it has worked. Of course it does back fire.

So I think of disinterest has to be a dead conversation that is answered with short, 'Yeah. No. Oh maybe. I guess.' And you're thinking wtf? lol

A guy is not interested when he treats you as a friend and just gives you a nice slap on the back. lol The cell phone trick is also a big give away because that is just rude!

A girl usually will not talk to you ever. I have also done that but not reply at all. When I like someone, I might make him contact me but I will reply with sweetly and happily.

When they completely try to ignore you, don't wanna hang out (make up excuses), stop calling/texting... Can't keep a conversation going and just end up hanging up or signing out

I'll usually have my eyes turned away paying attention to something else or

intentionally getting into a deep conversation with somebody else

and the biggest thing that shows disinterest is using your cell phone while that persons talking to you.

If you're trying to pick up a guy or girl and they're on their cell phone a lot, or even a little, they're probably not interested in you.

don't reply to phone calls/emails/et cetera

don't try to keep the conversation going when you chat with them, giving short answers and not asking about you or your opinions.

walk the other way when they see you approaching

say things like, "leave me alone."

Hey this makes sense in person, but sometimes a guy will message me online, and then only talk in short answers, or not really ask how I am. I would take all that as disinterested, but then why did he message me? Do you think it's different online?
