How do I test his interest without making a fool of myself?

I have liked this one guy for about a year. We see each other a lot and have many mutual friends, however I would not exactly say he and I are friends... more like acquaintances. One of my girl friends said that the guy I like said I would be "perfect" IF he was looking for a relationship. I still haven't given up hope. At a party months ago when he was drunk he kind of flirted with me and showed interest, however now he shows no signs of interest. Neither of us is good at flirting to make matters worse. Ultimately, I want to know if he is at all interested. Also, how I can show interest without making a fool of myself. Also, he is a pretty oblivious person so my sins would need to be clear, but I'm so scared of being direct.

don't rely on the girl's advise too much. If he is bit self conscious, shy or a guy like that, he may thinking that's the end of it and you played with him. When you too first meet just greet him with a slight smile. If he is hanging around don't have earphones or be busy with talking with friends. Try to get one of mutual friend to talk this out between you two. When he is around do not keep grumpy face, for less confidence guys it can affect too

The only way to get through to a guy you like that is oblivious is to be direct.

So do I flat out just tell him I like him, of is that too forward?

Work it into a conversation. He showed some interest at that party but then clammed up after I would use that situation and then move up from there.
