Guy invited me to his soccer game, does it mean anything relevant?

We met through mutual friends, then we bumped into each other a bit later on that day at a dance. He asked me to dance, held me very close to him, didn't mind when I stepped on his feet, gave me his arm to rest on, and noticed the change in my eye color (because of the light). The same mutual friends invited me to a Valentine's day dinner for our single group of friends because I had told them about him and they insisted I come since he'd be there. They even sat him next to me at the table. He even pulled the chair for me when I sat down. During the whole dinner, his knee was touching mine (I thought it was the table at first, but I figured out later that it was his knee), he asked me a lot of random questions, looked into my eyes when I answered him, etc. Later, we were all sitting on the couches, just chatting about random stuff. He was sitting on the opposite couch and kept making eye-contact with me, made faces, talked to me, etc. At one point, he randomly stood up and walked up to me. I was surprised and asked him what was up and he answered that he wanted to see if my eye color had changed since last time. He sat back down and went on with the glances, faces and smiles. I added him on FB later and he accepted (pretty normal, so far). He had mentioned that he had a soccer game on Thursday so I messaged him and asked him if I could come. He accepted and said that "it'd be cool if I came but it would be so embarassing if his team lost". I reassured him saying that I was sure he would play well.
The game is tomorrow and I'm really excited to see him play!
Do you guys think that he might like me in a serious way, not just the flirty, short-term way? I know that it's too early to talk about a relationship but I been played before and the guy behaved in a very obvious way that he liked me for months but he was just playing. It hurted cause I had fallen for him and all I want to avoid is to get hurt again.

Well, he does look very serious with you. But that doesn't mean that he is not a total douchebag. But since your mutual friend help u get close to each other, i will assume that he is indeed a good guy (otherwise why would your friend try hard to hook u up with him? Ur real friends won't hook you up with him if he is a bad guy). Its very clear to see that he is very interested to u. He might look he is playing u but did u know his story? Keep ur head cool and positive.

Well, my friends said that he likes attention from girls but he rarely gives his and that he's very touchy in general. He's very good-looking and confident so he might use that at his advantage. My friends also told me that he likes girls like me on many aspects, but it doesn't convince me in fully trying to get things go with him.

Just relax and take it one at a time. Give him the appropriate response. U will learn bit by bit about him. Make sure u watch his surroundings. How his friend is treating him, his family treating him. Ask more about him though ur mutual friends. If u want to test his resolve make sure u dont give negative response. Guys have pride too u know. We dont chase girls who are not enjoying our companion. So give him the appropriate response.

1 more thing id like to add. U might need to hold ur horses a bit. Let him initiate the conversation, etc, not you. Its guys job to do that. Be more passive and make him work for ur attention. All you need to do is give him the appropriate response.

But yea, I was thinking about staying quiet after tonight and let him make the next move. And if he doesn't do much next, I'll rely on my friends for further meetings. And if it doesn't work, well.. I'll let it go.

Well I cannot say for certain that he will not play you, but based upon his actions and behavior it seems as though he is genuinely interested in you. Whether or not he is interested in a relationship short or long term is hard to tell from an outside perspective, but it seems as though he is

If a guy invites you to something important to him, it means he likes you and he wants you to be there to share it with him. My first boyfriend invited me to watch his basketball game. He was looking for me on the bleachers when he was out there on the court. It was a great feeling for both of us. They won that night. We were together a few days later 😂.
