Have you ever been rejected because of your race?

This actually happened to me today and it was honestly very hurtful. I’m a guy so of course I’ve been rejected before but never because of my freaking race... what the hell...

I went to the beach with some friends yesterday and we were all chilling and stuff. My friend went to chat with a group of girls and then we all kinda followed him over. There was like 4 young, blonde girls (typical California girls, for those who live here you know what I mean). I won’t lie. They were really fucking hot. I think they were older too, in their early twenties. I got along really well with one of them and it was really fun. Anyways about an hour later they said they were leaving, so I was like in my head “shit I should just try my luck” (as I’m sort of seeing this girl but it ain’t working out and we ain’t together officially).

So I asked this girl for her social media or her number and she gave me them. So today I text her and was trying to see what was up and she said she “doesn’t date white guys” but that she’d be down to hang out or get high with my friends and her friends again. It made me upset I won’t lie but I’m kinda over it, just wanted to know if something like that happened to any of you... because it hurt a lot.

P. S this girl wasn’t foreign or something, I could see a girl not wanting to date a guy with a different culture and/or language. But this girl was just your typical white California chick... so I don’t know she said that, it freaking sucks.

And yeah I have, several times!!! I'm a black female, but online everyone instantly assumes I'm a white female. Even over the phone people say I sound white!

So when a guy sees my picture or realizes I'm black, they're instantly turned off or lose interest. Yet before they knew my race, they loved everything about me.

Same with in person. I have had guys that point blank told me that I'm attractive, but they don't date black women.

It sucks, but that's just some people's preference. I've just learned to accept it and find someone that does want you

My mom has also had people say that she sounds white, and I guess I get it from her too...
There's just a stigma when it comes to black women. A nasty stereotype that is often believed to be true, and sometimed it is, but most of the time it can be overlooked.

Everyone has preferences but i don't see how race could stop you from liking someone? plus preferences with appearance usually depend on personal opinion of beauty and features.

Plus my preferences are mostly from culture not race as there can more of one personality and different types of guys in different cultures or people with different backgrounds same with perception of beauty or masculinity in different places.

But tbh she's not worth getting hung up over she sounds very shallow, white Cali beach chick might not be the best place to find a real relationship.

Never for personal/dating have I been rejected. I was not selected for a job, that I really wanted, but the media company needed to hire a minority female. So I was passed over. Fast forward a few years now, I have a great job, and the woman hired for that position didn't last a year before being let go, her replacement also a minority female is awasome and has even become a friend of mine.

Yes I have. I only recently learned people do this, and was quite shocked. I'm mixed white and black so the idea that stuff like this still happens in the 21st century is disappointing. I can't change my skin colour though, so I don't dwell too long on it. It says a lot about the quality of the person who discriminates based on race. You dodged a bullet.

No one can even really tell what race I am. I am Mexican but everyone thinks I'm just 'white.' Some people say I look foreign like European or something. A couple people have asked me if I'm French. No one believes I am Mexican. People say I just have an exotic face or whatever. I am also rather pale and have freckles which is why people insist I am white.

My daughter is the same way. She's half Arab which technically is classified as white in the U. S. She's been seen as the average white girl but culturally she's a bit different. Her boyfriend now is half Hispanic (not sure if Mexican specifically) but they look like 2 suburban white kids. I can tell she looks Arab even though she is fair. Her cousins in Iraq have blonde hair and blue eyes too.

Yes, there are girls out there who will cheat on you, trick you into getting them pregnant, steal your money, otherwise just be horrible to you. Some people just aren’t sexually attracted to a certain race, I’m usually not attracted to African Americans usually because of their face structure but I have met multiple African Americans that I thought were attractive so it’s not impossible but usually they just don’t find them attractive and I have been rejected in a way but this one chick said that she wouldn’t date me because I’m white didn’t care though

The president of the women in cs club told me point blank that she got an interview at Amazon because she is a "double minority" as an Arab and woman, at least she acknowledged it and her version of the club made sure to always include male students in all their activities and worked more like an IEEE or ACM club that we didn't have.
Feel free to take it out on hiring managers that can't bother to work harder on PR and promotions instead of just assigning a number of XYZ race/gender that would be illegal in most countries.
