This is how the flirting article puts it - mirror to build rapport.
But its creeping me out already. A flirting guy is always mirroring me. I'm beginning to feel uncomfortable. I do not know if he's aware about it or he does it on purpose.
I've done a fair amount of reading on this stuff and because of it I noticed myself and others doing this a lot more.
Sometimes I change my body language and such to be different than other people because mirroring bothers me sometimes, but in the end it's about being comfortable however you feel.
I've never consciously mirrored a girl to build rapport - usually it happens naturally on it's own if I'm into her. Unfortunately, because it's a body language thing, it's usually done unconsciously and isn't something people usually talk about or control.
You do it subconsciously. You should read a book on body language quite interesting. Think of it like this. If I were mirroring you, then theoretically your mind is telling you that I am trustworthy because I think like you and do like you. Of course you seem to know this is done to build rapport so you see right through it as I do when someone does it to me.
Yes, maybe that's the reason why I don't feel comfortable instead of feeling the other way around: I see right through it. Sometimes I hate myself for being too observant and sensitive. *sigh...
Use it to your advantage. Manipulate it. If a guy is gazing at you, most likely he is interested. If you think he is attractive, glance up at him, and then glance away and towards the floor (this gives off the shy cute look). Count to 5. Glance up again and flash a smile. It can be so easy for you.
If you don't feel comfortable. Don't look haha
hahaha! that's a funny tip. but I do not want to manipulate guys, especially those who care for me. I do not know if I like him, but I do not want to offend him. :)
My crush is a really good friend who lives a few hours away at college but we talk every day and I catch myself picking up his phrases and his way of texting. It's subconscious, really. If you're purposefully mirroring someone it's gonna be more obvious since they'll try to be more on point. If it's real then it won't be right at the mark but it'll be similar
