What do women prefer nowadays, dapper, debonaire, gentleman or "edgy" bad boy type ?

It strikes me as funny how different the stereotypical idea of a ladies' man is now compared to a few decades back. A few decades back, a ladies' man was regarded as your Cary Grant type, suave and sophisticated dressed with exquisite tastes and generally dapper. This kind of ladies' man wasn't a wimp as such, but he certainly wasn't regarded as thuggish or violent either, and was more the perfect gentleman.

Fast forward to now and the current stereotypical ladies' man seems to be the so called "bad boy" type. He's kind of scruffy and certainly not dapper. He's rough and ready as opposed to sophisticated, or at least pretends to be in order that he seems "edgy". He shaves his hair and has tattoos. He's not really much of a gentleman, indeed he's at least a little mean, including to women. He might even be a violent thug.

So who wins out with women nowadays, the immaculately dressed, dapper, non thuggish gentleman or the supposedly edgy, crop haired, mean and moody "bad boy" ?
