Should I leave this girl alone at the gym?

I caught this girl staring at me twice it was awkward. Then a few days later I introduced myself got her name etc. Today saw her and asked her out of the blue what her workout routine is like. I didn't say hi, mention her name etc just went straight up to her after she glance at me and asked what her workout is like She talked to me for about 2 mins. She kept looking at my lips which made me feel uncomfortable. But I kept going I asked a few things out if nervousness like what days she usually comes to the gym, she mentioned that she likes to come in late when there is not a lot of people. She had a very neutral face no smile but was friendly. I didn't smile much cause I was nervous. Then I was like alright have a good workout and left. I know the gym isn't for pickup I was trying to make small talk Afterwards I felt like shit,.. I don't have a lot of experience with talking to women. I think I will just leave her alone now.

So, you acknowledge the most important thing which is the gym is NOT for pickups, flirting, etc. I’ve always hated this when working out.

That said, based on your description, yeah, you were pretty awkward. Not saying hi and just jumping into “so what exercises you do” is quite a stumble. Asking her when she goes to the gym and why is somewhat creepy. All of this is just based on how I’m interpreting your description. I could be wrong and it may not have been as awkward as you described.

I do believe that chances shouldn’t be missed. If you find her attractive and want to ask her on a date or something, try to find an appropriate time. Not during a workout, not in between sets, not while sweating…etc. my longest relationship began when me and a guy both left our apartment fitness center at the same time. In the parking lot he jumped straight to the point: “I see you in there a lot and would like to get to know you better. Would you want to go to dinner with me tomorrow night?”

Thanks yeah I think I'm going to leave her alone. I think she just initially thought I was cute when I first interacted with her. But I took it to mean a level of interest from her beyond that. I never try to pick up women at the gym for the past 10 years going. I was just trying to get to know her. But I realize now I probably made her feel uncomfortable. I don't interact with women very much. So it came across in my nervousness. I will just go back to focusing on working out. I will just avoid her so she doesn't think I'm some creep.

If you think you might like to ask her out, just be friendly and try to find out what kind of things she likes to do, then figure out sometging that she might like to do and just ask her out.
However, I would never date anyone from the gym because if it went sideways I would have to find a new place to workout.

True. I was kinda awkward tonight with her because of nervousness. But I think I will leave her alone. If it did go sideways like you said I would have to go to new gym.
