I do because it’s negging it’s a backhanded compliment
and I think it’s weird for women to use them because as a guy I already don’t receive a lot of compliments on my appearance like if you’re a girl and you think a guy is cute just say that

Yes.
My ex will be race related: so let's say they say i am cute for a black girl.
Basically it means I'm not cute, just cuter than other black girls, but that still makes me less of value compared to other races.

He might as well say you are ugly just not as ugly as the rest of your race.

Because if he truly felt i was cute all that was needed to be said is "you are cute."

The rest is a insult hidden in a compliment.

The way I see it, it becomes an insult when you can infer that BLANK makes you less desirable in areas outside where you've been complimented.

For example if someone told me I have nice handwriting for a guy, I'd take it as a compliment cause the idea that a lot of guys have bad handwriting doesn't indicate any other negative views about men.
But if a girl said I was smart for a guy then I'd take it as an insult because that indicates that there are other ways in which they view me as undesirable because I'm a man.

Back handed compliments are very rude, and passive aggressive. Passive agressiveness is probably the most unattractive personality trait possible
