What are some good text messages to send to a girl you are friendly with but want to start hinting that you are romantically interested as well?

Just say something like, “Hey, are you busy [insert day you want to meet]? I want to check out this place called [insert place]. Do you want to come with?” If she answers yes, you can continue with, “How about we meet at [insert time]?” You two hash out a time that works. Then you can end with, “Great, see you then!”


Boom. Done.


Then after the hangout, you can say something like, “This was fun. I hope you had fun too.” Then they’ll respond with something, and eventually you can find a moment to say, “[Name], there’s this thing that has been on my chest all day that I’ve wanted to say to you. So, here it goes. [Name], you’re [insert several compliments that are not shallow]. I really like you and I hope we can do this again sometime.” Then wait for her response. Positive? Good on you. Negative? Take it like a gentleman.

Also, during this hangout, bear in mind that you’re going to be gauging your chemistry with each other.

If the chemistry is there, the hangout may evolve into more of a date.

If the chemistry is not there, the hangout will remain as a hangout, without feeling awkward.

The key is knowing how to read her non-verbal communication. Not what she says, but HOW she says it. Not what she does but HOW she does it.

If she’s just giving you friend-energy the entire time, you can back off and keep it as a friendly hangout.

Maybe later down the road her energy around you will change. Or maybe not. This is something you’ll need to accept.

If she’s very inviting, holding eye contact, finding ways to stand or sit closer to you, finding excuses to touch you, very attentive to you, and laughs at your every joke, those are all green-lights to shift the energy and atmosphere into a more romantic or flirtatious one.

Here's a better idea. Don't try to do so through text. In fact, don't even try to drop subtle hints even when you're with her in person. You'll just frustrate or confuse Fair Lady. And of course, yourself.

Just ask her (in person) "would you like to have dinner with me?" Use the words with me. That makes your intentions clearer. You're not "hanging out" or anything like that. You are asking her specifically to spend time with you, to get to know you and you to know her. And if she asks if it's a date, you reply confidently with only one word. Yes.

You'll save both you and her a lot of trouble that way.
