Guys, Do guys like getting called b and baby/babes? What names make you feel special but not like too full on?

My crush calls me b mostly in text which is nice but feels even better when calls me baby. I wanna say something back. But do guys feel anything if you say b or babes? I don't like "hun" or "sweetie" cos to me that is a friendzone tone. "Handsome" and "sexy" is more when we are heating up in convo. What can I call him say as an example if he says he's working late and I wanna say "ok baby, see you later". Baby doesn't feel right for a man! Is just "b" ok like he uses with me when just general?

Agh! It seems weird saying baby in text!! Babe is OK. I called my ex boyfriend babes in our relationship. Never called him by his name. I don't think? Or I'd call him sexy beast. But my crush guy.. I dunno. I have copied what he puts so if he ends with a xxx instead of "b" I put xxx. Or sometimes just one or two not three. Its complex situation as he is a bit hot and cold lately. When he's hot I will say sexy and babes. When cold I will do xxx if he does or b. But I'd like something middle ground. Not too hot but not friendzoney.
