Should I feel confident asking out coworker?

As a male nurse I really try to do everything my power to be a good guy at work. I don’t flirt or creep on any of the many girls I am a surrounded by. I like working most of them and I genuinely don’t want to make work anymore difficult than it should be.

I worked with a girl last week who I had not worked with in months and she immediately jumped into teasing me; this went on for 8 hours along with her asking some personal questions about stuff like my hobbies and my divorce. She also seems to remember a lot of stuff I’ve mentioned to her in passing.

She reached out to me on FB messenger a couple days later and reignited the banter; with some questions of my previous jobs and interests in books, music and movies. After 4-5 days of this, I told her she should just text me, gave her my number, and she has continued texting me throughout the day each of the last 3 days.

I feel like there’s interest from her there. I’m not usually cowardly with women, rejection is something I learned to accept as a teenager, but with it being a coworker I fear it being a topic of conversation for colleagues should I be turned down.
