Reposting - did my flirty colleague miss me?

I have a colleague who I have a crush on. We have a flirty relationship which includes things like him staring at me, but when we’re in a group he avoids eye contact and looks at other people more than me. He has been seemingly jealous in the past.

I have been away for a week and today was my first day back. As soon as he saw me he said “it’s about time you came and did some work”. I asked him if he missed me, and without hesitation he said “not at all, it’s been lovely and quiet without you”

I know that this would not be the case because he works closely with another girl who is just as bubbly/giggly if not more so.

I was telling another colleague about what he said, and she said that she asked him last week if he missed me. He just responded with “it’s very quiet”.

Was he disguising the fact that he missed me?

Hmm it seems like this coworker of yours definitely likes you but is probably too shy to fully admit it. When you asked him directly if he missed you, of course he's not going to say yes in front of other people! That would be embarrassing for him.

But it does sound like from what your other coworker said, that when you were gone last week he noticed it was "quiet" without you there. That's probably as close as he'll get to saying he did miss you without actually saying the words.

Guys can be kind of awkward about showing their feelings sometimes. I'd say he definitely has a crush on you based on all the flirty behavior before. Maybe try flirting with him some more one on one and see if he opens up more about having missed you when you were away! He probably just doesn't want others to know he likes you like that.

No offense but there mustn’t be other decent prospects. I think if there were you wouldn’t give him the time of day lol. You should really look elsewhere, this guy goes from flirting to being disrespectful and you shouldn’t eat that up.
