What do these hugs and other gestures mean?

A guy who oversees store concepts seeks me out all the time when he stops in and tells me to come see him on my break. He initiates hugs goodbye and he hugs me tightly when he says goodbye and it lingers, as though he doesn’t want to say goodbye and wishes our time together doesn’t end. He tells me they’re the best hugs and they feel so good. He hugged me multiple times the last time we had a conversation together. Held my hand and it lingered as well. He is always amused and laughing when I say something sarcastic or smartassed.… asks questions about myself… is he wanting more?

Hmm from the sounds of it I think he's definitely into you! The lingering hugs and comments about how good they feel are a pretty clear sign he likes being close to you. Holding your hand and lingering there too only adds to it.

Guys don't usually hug their friends that tightly unless they're going for something more, you know? And the fact that he always seeks you out and seems so interested in learning about you is another good sign. Wanting to make you laugh and enjoy your company is a big one too.

If I had to guess, I'd say he for sure wants to take things to the next level with you. Maybe he's just a little shy or afraid of coming on too strong so that's why he hasn't outright asked you out yet. But I'd bet money that's where he's hoping things are headed.

My advice would be start flirting back with him a little to show you're interested too. See how he responds to that. Then maybe you could casually bring up getting dinner after work sometime and see if he picks up what you're putting down! I think you've got a good shot at more happening if you make a little move.
