When guys call a girl cute or sweet, does it mean they’re attracted to her?

Like would you think of a girl like that as hot or sexy? I have been called sweetie or cutie, but I feel like guys see me just as a sweet, shy girl, maybe immature while they flirt and date girls that are more popular hot type of girls and Im just being called sweet and cute.

Should I be more outgoing? I try to be nice, but I hardly get noticed.

What is your opinion? Should I be more assertive?

"Hot" and "sexy" are a bit too forward with a stranger. Also "sweet" and "cute" does not mean "not sexy". I know plenty of sweet, cute women I would love to get to know better, if you know what I mean and I think you do. If you are struggling to meet suitable men, you might try looking in some new places. Outdoor activity groups are full of shy men: hiking, skiing, sailing, paddle sports, etc. Also groups gathering for chess or board games are mostly men, some a bit nerdy but some quite interesting.

For me when I call a girl cute or adorable, I'm usually not attracted to her for more. Although I've found girls I dated to be cute/do cute things at times.

I would not say shy girls are not interesting to guys. Seems like a lot of dudes are into them because a shy girl would seem less threatening or harder to leave him. I think that's what guys maybe think or hope is the case. I personally like women who are more outgoing like me and confident with people. Mousy girls tend to annoy me very quickly.

When I call a girl "cute," if she is much younger than me, I am just giving her a compliment. If she is closer to me age, I am expressing attraction to her.

Your perception of as a sweet, shy girl, maybe immature but can make you hard to approach because you come off as pure. If you want to get something going you will have to break through and be direct.  "Maybe you can take me out for coffee sometime."  . They will let you being both cute and forward at the same time.

Not necessarily. Calling a woman "cute" can be a guy's way of saying that a woman isn't especially attractive, in a way that won't hurt her feelings.

Or, it can be a way for a guy to say he finds a woman attractive, in a way that doesn't seem overly aggressive or creepy.

It's a case-by-case sort of thing.

not a guarantee. it can refer to her looks or her character or behaviors and it may exclude one of them other so for example a girl can look cute but have a character a guy just doesn't pefer. so it's not a bad thing but not a guarantee that she's attractive to him.
