Why did my guy friend hold my hand? ...

about a week ago (before he left for spring break) I went to a part with a couple guy friends when one of them starting trying to put my hair behind my ear (like multiple times) and kept asking if he could braid my hair.

i know he's quite inexperienced with girls so his excuse was that he was 'practicing'.

he then told me (or let it slip?) that I have thick thighs and that he 'likes that'. He also held my hand for a good five minutes. A mutual friend saw we were holding hands and joked around asking if we were 'going out' and he said 'yeah' then 'no' and laughed.

was he really just 'practicing' on me?

He likes you and wants to date you, no doubt about that. he's just shy and making sure you approve of him trying to get close to you.

If he hasn't asked you out, he's "just a friend". So yes, he was probably just practicing
