Why do older ladies tell me I'm beautiful and pretty sometimes, but I've never had a boyfriend :(?

Women compliment me on my outfits and several of my teachers (older men and women) have told me that I was beautiful/attractive.

Regardless of the fact, I've never had a boyfriend, and only guys I'm unattracted to approach me (creeps, really weird guys). I feel like I will be alone forever.

Are these ladies just trying to lift up my self esteem?

Why can't I accept compliments, and feel like they are backhanded compliments?

Honestly, no girl can accept compliments, we all feel ugly, alot, thus the invention of make up and liposuction. So don't for a second worry that it's just you. And if a lot of teachers compliment you it may be because you have a different sense of style (which as a very awesome thing in this century). And we all have wondered about being alone forever at least once, it's OK! The comments are not backhanded, and it's hard to get guys sometimes, (especially for good looking girls). If your honestly terrified of being alone, consider lowering your visual standards, you never know what guy may turn out to be really great if you give him a chance.

That makes sense, that's awesome. Then don't let it get to your head. That's just insecurity talking (WHICH WE ALL HAVE). When someone gives you a compliment, take it with a smile, and stop looking for a boyfriend, let it come to you... (Cliche'd enough?) ;)

I know right? Haha, but I can tell you for a fact, you never find him when you're looking for him. Oh and to all of these other people saying that they see your low self-esteem that's complete bs, who would take time out of their day just to lie to your face. Nope, not happening. My favorite line, "I don't like you enough to lie to you." We only lie to protect our loved ones, not to the people we don't care about.

unfortunately I'm in the same boat as you, in every single aspect :( I don't know what you define as creeps, but the creeps that I have to deal with tho are the ones that are literally twice my age (im 20 and not attracted to guys that are the same age as my parents), and the guys that think its attractive to literally get me cornered and when I get pissed they laugh. the thing that helps me tho is to listen to music that makes me feel good or encourages me. I went thro a really rough time earlier this summer and the song that helped me was LULLABY by nickelback... I hope things work out for you, girlie :-)

i agree or in my case they are younger too (ive never been attracted to younger guys...blegh! lol) I get guys that only wanna talk to me so they can get info that they can jerk off to...i don't wanna be used just for that reason ya know? but keep your head up and don't settle for anything less than what you deserve :-)

Possibly either low self-esteem or they are backhanded compliments as it seems backhanded compliments occur more than compliments especially if the speaker is a guy.

They can probably sense that you have low self-esteem and are just trying to cheer you up, make you feel better about yourself. I never understood why chicks always say, awww, she's so cute, he's so cute, when they KNOW he/she is ugly and they would never date them.

Keep your head up high. You deserve the best so don't settle for anything less. M in the same situation. Only creepy horny guys come after me and I'm always getting told by everyone how beautiful I am. You just have to be strong enough to wait til the right guy comes along.
