Are Twinkies overrated?

As a British person, I believe my first knowledge of the ‘twinkie’ was when I was watching Zombieland ( freaking awesome film btw) when Tallahassee goes searching for twinkies and obsessing over them, and also in transformers when Shia makes a Twinkie tower. I always wondered what they taste like but never found an opportunity to get one, until one day I found an American sweet shop in a town not too far from me. I saw twinkies being sold, so I course bought a whole box! Getting into my car I unraveled the plastic and shoved the whole thing in my mouth... I was shocked at how boring they were.

They are ok , the original flavor was banana creme instead of vanilla. WWII broke out and shortage of bananas from rationing and they got bananas from overseas they had to find a substitute and that's why it is vanilla...
Anyway they are good but still kinda meh

Yeah, no one really cares its just a gimmick and has been beaten to death worse than granpa's old leather ballbag. Some people think that Hostess cakes are something special, eh. American Kitkats are different, I know that. Saltier and creamier milk chocolate than global (Nestle v. Hershey manufacturing). I bet it's easier to get hispanic snacks. Two big underrated resources that Americans have are Hispanic Everything (takis, tajin, al pastor, even nacho cheese!) and the fact that we can seriously over-produce just about anything.

You guys have real-sugar Coke right? We call it Mexican Coke but that's the difference. That cleaner, crisp taste. I'm trying to locate a nearby source of Squirt grapefruit soda since we're on this topic. One of the best bar-back drinks ever but it's made by Texas based RC Cola products, I think.

I can't think of anything particularly Twinkie related other than that which UK wouldn't already have, say Biscoff cookies. Those are a pretty lowkey treat that's easy to sneak people into loving forever in America. Maybe Scrapple and corn bread? American... uniquely American...

They’re actually pretty good tasting, but extremely bad for you to my knowledge. The ingredients make it so that your taste buds and brain will react positively to the taste, but in reality the Twinkie is actually doing more harm than good. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a Twinkie but I still remember how they taste like. The first Twinkie you have tastes good, but it’s so sweet to me that having one a second or even third time can start to taste overwhelming.

They're low grade junk food, the company that originally made them produced a lot of stuff like that. Their fruit pies are better but none of it is anything but a cheap snack. Dolly Madison or Little Debbie are comparable.

They're nothing special, they were popular years ago because they were fun packaged and were a treat for parents to give kids

twinkies are an underappreciated masterpiece. Somedays I feel like I'd give my left nut for just one more twinkie. Well, maybe two. lol
