The USDA wants to ban chocolate milk in schools due to it's high sugar content. It was a staple for me in public school as a kid, so I think it's stupid, it made us kids drink milk in a tasty way.

That is sad.
As a chocolate-milk-drinking kid in the mid-1960s, I was part of a survey to determine which type of chocolate milk kids liked best. Of course, I chose the chocolatiest milk that they provided in the survey.
After the survey was completed, my school did start providing a more chocolaty milk for lunches, but the change didn't last for very long.
The new milk was just too damned chocolaty.
The kids got sick of it real fast.
Does that say something about performing surveys with kids as subjects? I think it does.
Sugar is currently the Great Nutritional Boogeyman, since the fear of trans fats has worn off (at least until some pool-playing plus-sized drag queen adopts it as a stage name); this shifts every few decades, and will change again with time.
With childhood obesity and diabetes on the rise, it probably is a responsible choice to limit or eliminate sugary beverages at public institutions. It might not even be a ban. One proposal would allow it but simply limit the amount of added sugar the milk can have. I know many of these kids will eat or drink whatever they want as soon as they go home but at least our tax dollars can go towards healthier choices. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
I think it's dumb. There's vanilla and strawberry milk in schools that are sugary as well, yet they want to only ban chocolate milk. Might as well ban the juice boxes and cartons too. I remember when they switched to trumoo chocoate milk when I was in school and they switched back to prairie farms since most didn't like it.

Sounds fake. More like they will stop selling it. A "ban" is when they don't allow you to bring your own. It's also a buzz word people use to make people mad at the government for no reason..
They should provide a less sugary alternative. The current varieties numb childrens' taste and make them crave more sugar.
They have been working on stopping giving kids Chocolate Milk in school years ago but if they stop to think, kids could get in their lunches from Mom and Dad, so it makes no sense.
They are right. And they should get off this cow's milk thing. Milk itself has plenty of sugar.
It’s sure tasty, but it is high in sugar and is not beneficial to nutrition of children.
I'd think the antibiotics and hormones in the food would be a more important issue. Also, what is to stop the kids from bringing chocolate syrup with them and making their own?
What will they do for the kids who won’t drink regular milk? I had a cousin growing up that wouldn’t even eat cereal unless it was chocolate milk.
Thats retarded, I grew up on that, still drink it, and I'm fine.
It is a good move. They shouldn't be giving that poison to kids anyway.
There are way worse drinks then chocolate milk. Just leave the kids alone
Ffs.
Sounds good to me.
