Both are slender root vegetables. Salsify looks like a poorly grown parsnip while it's cousin is black. Their taste is reminiscent of artichokes and asparagus and some say oysters. They're popular in Italy but in the UK only a few gardeners grow them these days.
Have you had either and what did you think of them? I've had both and found them edible but not exciting enough to make them a regular vegetable.
I have never heard of these. I'd be willing to try them. I'm often called "Mikey" (older Americans should get the joke) because I will eat just about anything.
