+1 yI think I recently became one. I quit drinking alcohol towards the end of last year but since then, I've been drinking a whole lot of black coffee. I just drink this instant brand at home:

Nescafe Gold Blend I try to limit myself to 5 cups max a day but I have a tendency to often drink like 15.

Wow!! That's quite a leap from 5 to 15!!
- +1 y
Before I quit drinking alcohol, I only drank 1 or 2. But I think I've ended up substituting alcohol with coffee to a large extent and have "binge coffee" days. At least I'm not turning into a drunken idiot or getting hangovers from it. Yet I might need to start working on cutting it down.
- +1 y
That's very true!! Between alcohol and coffee, coffee is definitely the best option. Good for you that you have been able to get away from drinking alcohol!!
- +1 y
Thanks! š¤I haven't noticed it affecting my sleep much to consume so much coffee but I've always been a bit of an insomniac so maybe it doesn't make as much difference for me. š
- +1 y
@Guyanswersgirls That's because coffee is an adenosine (the chemical that makes you sleep) inhibitor and the more you drink coffee, the more adenosine receptors in your brain are made, thus the more coffee you'll need to see an impact. It's not good to drink excessive amounts of coffee because it can lead increased heart rate, raised blood pressure, anxiety, and other side effects.
They say you should limit yourself to approximately 400mg of coffee per day, which is roughly around 4-5 cups of coffee per day. You're well over that and I recommend you watch your consumption. - +1 y
@HawkPerception I will give it a shot! Currently still getting settled into the no alcohol thing so I figure it still beats a bottle of whiskey+. But next thing to whittle down for sure. š¤

No. because there are days I can go without coffee. But I like drinking it so much

And you don't suffer withdrawal symptoms when you don't drink it?
- +1 y
I actually am detoxing from coffee because it was causing me insomnia and I am currently suffering from withdrawal symptoms. I would have 5 espresso coffees per day.

Thank you for the advice!!

+1 yNo I don't! My routine is a 12 oz cup when I get up, one more bit later then a third once I get to work and the coffee is on. That is it for most days. Home days it just usually the early 12 oz cups. Just water during the day and evening with occasional cocktail most evenings or wine with dinner.

+1 yI don't know about addict. However I never thought I āneededā coffee until recently.
I donāt drink coffee every day. I would only drink it when I worked a morning shift. There was a while where I was working morning shifts every day.
One day I didnāt make myself a coffee right away and I felt like shit. I was so groggy and I was in a bad mood. Thatās when I realized that I need coffee more than I think I do 🥲11 Reply- +1 y
Nah mate you needed water and some extra oxygen. That groggy feeling you have in the morning is a result of breathing slower all night. Have a glass of water some deep breaths of fresh (ish) air and then see how you feel. Most of the time the grogginess goes away after that.
+1 yI took a vacation to Hawaii to visit Kona coffee plantations and then I went to Jamaica to go to Blue Mountain coffee plantations. I might be a coffee addict. And a coffee snob
31 Reply- +1 y
My cousin on Father's side lives in Hawaii. He brought two bags of Kona coffee, straight from a plantation, on a visit for me one time. Best coffee I ever had. That was years ago though. Prices on it skyrocketed since then so I rarely get to buy it for myself.
Second best I had was from Cuba. Really sweet and light.
3.3K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. Very much so. 10, 20 cups a day sometimes.

10 ReplyNo I can only drink decaf coffee I'm not aloud caffeine or energy drinks because of my epilepsy but I drink decaf coffee but I'm mostly a te girl than coffee
10 Reply432 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. You mean "caffeine addict" as decaff coffee is not.
Most people, like most drinkers and smokers, are more addicted to the habit than the product.
