We have a good one that even is all metal inside and you can have metal in it when using it but I still don’t just out of habit. I only use it for small jobs that take less than 20-30 seconds and that is not too often. We use our oven but not a huge amount and will likely replace it with an induction range as I really like them. Then we have Sous Vide as well but use that mainly for steaks.
The real star of the show and what gets the workout here is our Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro. It’s used multiple times a day We even did a small turkey in it but not nearly as big as they claim can be done as there wasn’t enough room for that at all. My wife is an excellent cook and she gravitates to this. We get a new one every 4-5 years and give the old one away to get the best out of it.

We have a built in microwave in our home but unplugged it years ago.
I've read many scientific claims about how they destroy any nutrition in food and even change the structure of water.
Besides, we try to minimize sources of radiation in our house, don't have any "smart" devices, keep our phones in Faraday bags when not in use, cut power to the TV when not in use, avoid 5G wifi when possible, and don't have a 5G transmitter, including an electrical box, near our home.
I rarely use a microwave. Something about just popping food in the oven always tastes better. I use a kettle to heat water and I have a kurig for coffee. I have a milk frother that I use to heat milk for my tea.
very very very rarely do we use the microwave.
I tend to love our microwave. It's old but it's worked all of these years. I one time broke a piece off of it at the hinge because I'd give it a tiny punch if the door wasn't shut all the way and the light was on.

So, here I am on Girls Ask Guys, sharing my love for all things food and culinary adventures. About microwaves, I totally get where you're coming from! As someone who relishes diving deep into the art of cooking and exploring flavors, microwaves don't usually top my list of must-have kitchen gadgets. They're super handy for a quick reheat, but nothing beats the joy and flavor of cooking a meal from scratch. That said, in a fast-paced world, they do have their place for convenience. But hey, given a choice, I'd always prefer the old-school way of cooking. It's all about that simmer, sizzle, and stir! 🍳

I almost never use a microwave. There is a point to them, speed and time savings. Like most things though, there’s a tradeoff.
There’s an easily repeatable experiment that anyone can do to see the potential major drawbacks of consuming food & beverages prepared in a microwave.
Get two plants of the same type, roughly equal in size, same potting material and capacity. Give them equal amounts of water at the same time each day, but microwave the water and let it cool.
Predictably more often than not, the plant watered with unradiated water will grow faster and stronger than the one watered with radiated water. THAT is what people are doing to themselves to save a couple minutes.
If i’m gonna go “Toxic Avenger”, i wanna do it all at once like Melvin Junko. Not in tiny cancerous increments without all the superpowers. Ell oh ell!Microwaves on their own are okay for heating something up quick if you don't want to wait for an oven. , but with a range mate a microwave is awesome. The range mate is a vessel that you use to basically grill or steam in your microwave so I can grill chicken burgers, I fry eggs in it steamed broccoli it's pretty cool, even can make muffins in it. Here's a video where I do a seafood Swiss and cheddar grilled cheese in the microwave via the range mate
https://www.youtube.com/embed/abydjK_E3OII've never been good at cooking on a stove or in an oven. I learned to use a microwave many years ago, and use it often. I can cook just about anything in a microwave. I've even done a turkey for Thanksgiving in a microwave, albeit a small one.
A microwave uses less energy than a stove and is non-polluting. It's eco friendly.
You don't need a set of pots and pans. You can cook on plates or paper towels. And it's much easier to cleanup.
I love my SO, my kids and my dog, but I really like my microwave.
My microwave was just something to heat up my food quickly. After having it for 3 years my wife figured out it both had a great steamer but an excellent grill function. No air fryer is needed, it grills everything from fish to chicken to fries perfectly 😊 I guess I needed the wifey to figure out the benefits of it.
The only food-preparation appliances I use are microwaves, hot dog toasters, and George Foreman grills. And the vast majority of my uses of these would be that of a microwave. Maybe if I knew how to cook with a stove or an oven or an air fryer or something like that, I would have a differing opinion, but I don't know how I would live without my microwave.
I use my microwave to cook my scrambled eggs and to cook my old fashion oatmeal in 3 minutes every morning. I have also baked cakes in it. I also love to cook the more traditional way, but even the best chef's have a use for a microwave it's just a matter of learning how to use it just like any kitchen tool such as a chef's knife.
In the Us, there is a big leftover culture for some reason. That is why most of them have microwaves. Anyway, I think it is fairly uncommon in the UK and the rest of Europe to have a microwave. I am from Turkey and not many people have them here.
I don't have a microwave device, prefering to take the time to cook normally. Although everyone does what they want, I heard somewhere that the microwave is the best way to eat quickly and badly...
Its my most used tool , heats my coffee , but yeah I'd never fully cook in it..
As for the George , its not a girlfriend , but same thing , I use the electric grill all the time here in Thailand , but I would never use in Australia , but I dont quite trust the Thai gas bottles , where Aussie Gas is direct line , although dam expensive ( Aussie ) , maybe more sensible to use a BBQ which of course uses a Gas bottle.
Microwaves were first used as military technology and were around long before microwave ovens. First they kill all nutrients in food so you end up eating junk. Secondly, the safe level of radiation is anything from 5-10 microteslas and the microwave emits about 180 microteslas anywhere around it in the kitchen. If it leaks (isn't properly sealed, the protective casing) then the radiation is much higher.
We use it all the time to reheat leftovers or make tea for my wife. We also heat up our moist heating pads. It's definitely a time saver
I eat leftovers a lot and I use it to reheat stuff. Just cut up whatever is leftover from Sunday dinner, add some leftover potatoes and vegetables put it all in the microwave for 3 minutes. Easy peasy
I love microwaves. Even if I don't use them often, they're a handy timer and clock lol
I goy my ‘84 Kenmore microwave/convection oven a decade ago at a thrift shop for a fiver. All I had to do to it was replace the missing rubber feet and eventually change the light bulb. I love hot dogs and that’s how I cook them.

It’s good for a certain amount of things, but not for cooking gourmet chef cooking
The microwave is great. You can reheat food, for instance pizza, lasagna or even tea very quickly. I use IT mainly for this purpose.
I have multifunctional one, so I use it to bake, grill, reheat, unfreeze and many other things...
Who uses a microwave to make tea? Have some people on this planet not heard of kettles yet?
Saves loads of time when just warming something up!
I only use the microwave for uncle bens egg fried rice or left overs that’s all
