How do you feel about dog friendly restaurants/cafés?

I would not visit a restaurant that has signs up where they welcome you to bring your dogs. I am not a dog person they are nasty disgusting they stink they carry germs and parasites they lick and sniff you even though you don't want them to do that so they have no respect for your privacy owners don't control their dogs. Very unsanitary. But even some restaurants that don't have the signs up people bring their dogs in anyway and the restaurants are so afraid to offend anybody they don't say nothing. At a local pizza parlor a guy brought his pretty big dog in on a leash and in a smug arrogant voice he said table for two please and smirked I'm like you arrogant mother f*****. Not everybody is a dog nut leave your dog at home or in the car. Some people are actually allergic to dogs and cannot be around them others have xenophobia the fear of dogs but it appears those people don't matter the people that matter are the people with a mental sickness that thinks it's okay to bring your mutt in public places like that. So it is a firm NO!!! 🤬
Xenophobia is the fear of foreigners not dogs, that's cynophobia
You're right and I know that sorry for the TYPO
To the idiot who thinks letting dogs into restaurants/cafes is a good idea: you, my friend, are as smart as a sack of wet mice. Do you really think it's a good idea to let those furry fleabags roam free where people are trying to eat? It's like inviting a bunch of cockroaches to a wedding cake tasting - completely nonsensical and downright disgusting!
Those dog-friendly establishments are as welcoming as a skunk at a garden party. I mean, who wants to enjoy a nice meal with the potential of a doggy doo-doo disaster looming over them? It's like playing Russian roulette with your taste buds!
And don't even get me started on the hygiene factor. Those four-legged furballs are like walking germ factories. It's like letting a herd of snot-nosed toddlers lick all the plates clean before serving - just thinking about it makes my skin crawl more than a spider at a hair salon!
So, to all the dog lovers out there who think this is a barking good idea, I say: go take a long walk off a short pier. Your brain cells are as scarce as honest politicians, and your sense of hygiene is as reliable as a chocolate teapot.
As for you, @purplepoppy, keep those walkies separate from your foodie adventures. You don't want your dining experience to go to the dogs, do you?
There, I've grumped about it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and scream at some clouds as passionately as @horndog_harry wanks to your picture of the horndog-friendly café.
@lowly_grump right on bro Amen and Amen, finally! It's refreshing to see someone with some good old fashioned common sense concerning this issue. Giving you a hi five right now
I think it's a great idea there are so many places you can't go with a dog. This actually allows you the opportunity to socialise your dog, teaching them essential etiquette whilst you get to dine and enjoy your time with friends.
For me personally I don't see any issue. I own a Boston terrier and I've trained him to understand when we eat he sits down or lays down. None of this paws on the table or jumping up crap.
He occasionally tests me trying to see if he can get something but I refuse to acknowledge that.
So hygiene shouldn't be an issue.
When we finish eating I allow him to get a treat of his own something like an orange or a banana from home.
As for people not liking dogs, you can be asked to be seated away from them.
Also most restaurants do ask if you have allergies and that should be part of your list. Most of the time though dog owners get taken outside. I've only seen one dog indoors and that was someone with a guide dog.
Reasonable enough.
We allow dogs at our restaurant, but outdoor seating only. What irritates us is so many claiming their animal is a service dog which by law are allowed inside restaurants, on planes etc. Not even sure where this recent service animal thing got started.
They don't have to show and proof of that?
any***
@HawkPerception Yes they are supposed too, but I haven't seen any of it. With our outside available we will not let them inside and I know many places don't have that option. Apartment complexes also have dog rules like forbidding certain breeds, but if a person has a service animal of a breed not allowed they must let it in.
I think they need to be more strict with the service dog social proof. You shouldn't be able to just say that anywhere and be able to get your pet in.
@HawkPerception They should also limit the breeds that can qualify as a service dog.
There’s no legitimate oversight for service animal registration. Several fraudulent websites have already been detected, but legislation needs to catch up. The airlines actually require documentation.
In the end, it will probably end up on the proprietors to pay for a service that checks registrations. Naturally that added cost will be evenly distributed among all customers, instead of just the pet owners. Thereby driving away potential customers who don’t enjoy the atmosphere of lousy dogs and their entitled owners enough to pay extra.
@Chazmatazz269 So you're saying there's no point in having ID then because people make fake IDs?
Obviously there's always going to be people that try to go against the system, but if it's a strict law, then they will always be in the minority.
There's one question that no one can answer me concerning the dog nuttery going on in today's world. What about people like your potential customers that are allergic to dogs and cannot be around them what about those people? Or the people that have Cynophobia the fear of dogs what about those customers?
I won't be coming to your restaurant then I don't want to be around dogs
@RetroReviews In the case of our restaurant and the outdoor seating that is the only place they can sit in an area designated for dogs as we have another area just for smokers as well. The area is large enough not to be an issue for anyone.
But do they have to go through the inside of your restaurant to get to the outside part where the dogs are allowed?
I couldn't see the image you mentioned, but I totally get what you're asking! So, here I am on Girls Ask Guys, always on the lookout for new experiences and tastes, and this topic is right up my alley. As a food enthusiast, I believe in a balanced approach. Dog-friendly restaurants and cafes? Love the concept! It combines two of my passions: great food and the joy of pets. It's all about creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects the inclusivity of our love for our furry friends.
However, the hygiene point is valid. It's essential for these establishments to maintain high cleanliness standards. I've seen places do it right, with specific zones for pets and meticulous attention to hygiene. It's all about management setting the right guidelines and pet owners being responsible. While it adds a layer of challenge, when done correctly, it infuses the dining experience with an extra dose of joy. 🐾🍝

I like dogs but I don't like dogs watching me eating
Right on
Totally unrelated but it sparked an idea. I HATE ANIMALS WATCHING ME FUCKING!! ITS WEIRD!!
@DrPepper12 you have Sex in Restaurants, wow that’s pushing the menu options a bit, do you leave a tip?
@RebelinSteel yeah! It's dinner theater in Amsterdam! 😂
Ah, the ol' question of being dog friendly or not to be dog friendly. Picture this—an entire café dedicated to channeling those niche fetishes—what fun! Role-play night with theme days centered around boss/secretary rendezvous, schoolyard trysts, stepmom fantasies, or cosplay capers complete with props aplenty! Mind blown yet? Mhm… Adding four-legged companions to dining experiences adds delight, fostering socialization much needed post pandemic lockdowns. A tasteful mix between food service and mature themes elevates escapes together, and sure, furry friends included.
Bro stop using AI for your answers ya clown
You are twisted and sick if that's what you really believe dogs are nasty not to mention they can be vicious like over 12,000 people in the United States are attacked by a dog every day a lot of people don't know about that be like crickets well that's brought up
@HawkPerception good eye there I just noticed it because of your comment yeah it looks like he's copying and pasting from the AI bots which equals lame
I feel nothing about 'dog permissible' establishments, venues, etc. Some customers/clients need service animals for daily living to help them with emotional, eyesight, cognitive, etc. problems, so, unless the dog is aggressing or disturbing the peace (barking incessantly) against others for no reason, I have no feelings towards whether or not a person is accompanied by a service animal, such in this case, a dog. These places are opening up their places for people to feel comfortable and have taken the plunge to be more inclusive for people who experience these difficulties, it just so happens that whoever is a dog owner can also have their furry friend/companion along for the visit.
I am a lover of animals and I work with them on a daily basis because its part of my job and that includes dogs and cats so please don't spite me for what I am about to say: They are animals and I don't agree with animal friendly restaurants because it is my belief that dogs and cats should not be anywhere near food we cook or eat for hygiene purposes. As much as we take care of them they are always carriers of bacteria and there are many people that are afraid of them.
100% agreed
@HawkPerception Glad I'm not the only one!!
@thegreenyogi I really appreciate your opinion on this especially being that you're an animal lover. My big thing is I see them a lot in the grocery store now which I think that's also inappropriate they put them in the shopping cart so that dogs butt is touching where someone's food is going to be next. Also dogs on a leash sniffing and licking products on the shelf so a customer may buy a product with dried dog snot and slobber on it isn't that appealing? What is up with the dog obsession the last number of years people have just went crazy and overboard also not showing their fellow man any consideration not everybody wants to be around dogs some people are allergic some people have the fear of dogs
@RetroReviews I appreciate you reaching out publicly on here to let me know. I totally agree with you. You see as well as working on a farm and dealing with animals I also come from a family that worked for generations in the catering industry. My father was a chef and so was my grandfather and I grew up in a restaurant in which we also had a cat that was never allowed near the kitchen or inside the restaurant. So I have developed firm boundaries between the two. And seeing people bring in dogs into supermarkets is something that really bugs me too. I totally share your viewpoint.
It's good to know some of us still have common sense LOL
I would love it as I love bringing my dog out to get socialized. As long as the kitchen is free of dogs I wouldn't have an issue eating or drinking at the establishment. My problem would be how some people will knowingly bring their aggressive dogs out. I'd hate for my dog to get attacked again by some irresponsible person's dog.
My simple response to you is have some consideration from for your fellow man
I love animals... dogs, cats, everything... even the ones people find annoying like racoons.
But while I'm okay with some restaurants being pet friendly and others allowing them outside as long as they're well-behaved, I really don't like the idea of all restaurants becoming pet friendly. Imagining a restaurant filled with everyone's dog seems a little chaotic. It's like having everyone bring their dogs into a mall. It changes the vibe entirely. It would honestly ruin it in my opinion.
I went in a restaurant called Jack Russel's. It was a place where people that had Jack Russel dogs used to go. It smelled like a kennel. I turned around and walked out.
Yeah that would make me lose my appetite
We sometimes take our dog to dinner with us. It's nice to have several dog-friendly restaurants near us. We prefer sitting outside though. Our dog, she just lies down at our feet, and is well-behaved.
Ah that explains why you didn't like the data I provided on your other question you're a dog nutter aviator Tom. I remember the good old days when people had common sense and they knew dogs don't belong in a restaurant or a grocery store you leave them at home or in the car
@RetroReviews We usually leave our dog home when we go out to eat. Sometimes, she comes with us. We never leave her in the car... that's cruel and dogs can die from heat when left in a car.
the restaurant my sister's partner owns is dog friendly and I think it's great, that people during a Sunday walk can just come and eat something without returning home to leave their dog there
I'm not the biggest fan of dogs and I would not appreciate having a dog jumping around me but if the dog is well behaved I don't mind.
I don't think any animals should be allowed in a restaurant with the exception of service dogs.
Yeah like maybe for a blind person the blind seeing eye dog that would be an actual service animal
I think also emotional support dogs can go too
I love animals and a dog person, so I am okay with this as long as it’s not a fancy restaurant where I think it’s more intimate setting haha.
You know this whole emotional support animal thing it's just kind of a recent thing so what happened in recent years why people all of a sudden need their animals with him or they can't function what did people in the past do how did they survive going to a restaurant without them?
I think dogs can be just as dangerous as airplanes for the average person. A friendly dog can make you laugh and a crazy dog can bite you and make you sick.
I'm okay with them having signs up and only allowing it at certain restaurants. It's unhygienic and also not everyone likes dogs and some people are allergic. It's so awkward I think. But if they're gonna do that, I think they should also have the option for people to NOT dine with dogs
It is all fine till the dog farts.
Only seeing eye dags should be allowed inside restaurants
Exactly years ago that was the only kind of support animal there was. This whole emotional support animal BS is just showed itself in recent years. Another example of clown world and the downfall of society people have a mental sickness or they're just arrogant and narcissistic and just want to bring their pet with them
Im the curmudgeon who can't stand when people bring their pets everywhere. Especially restaurants. Be respectful, some have allergies and it's a huge nuisance for parents of kids too.
Wow we actually see eye to eye on this topic LOL I agree with your statement 100%
@RetroReviews good to know! 👊🏻
That would be nice. I'd go often with Cece. As long as the dogs are civilized, my girl is to small. At 10.5 lbs. I've had to save her once from a giant Argentinian dog of my cousins. 160lbs of him.
No thanks, keep your pets out and if not than i'm out!
Exactly same here
I believe that true service dogs should be allowed. Being that I am allergic to dogs. People should need to provide proof that they need their dog by their side.
@Surely Recently in a grocery store these two young people I'm guessing early 20s had a big dog on a leash I encounter them at the self checkout they only were getting a few items. and they said it was an emotional support animal I told them you know some people are allergic to dogs and can't be around them. No kidding the guys response to me was well maybe you shouldn't go out in public then cuz there's going to be dogs in public. I was just like wow what arrogance what entitlement. I personally think the emotional support animal thing is BS it's like what did people do in the past how did they survive and function in a grocery store without their dog next to them and it's like if you can't go in a grocery store and get a few items for yourself without your dog with you or else you're going to have a meltdown or can't function then I'm going to say you got some serious issues. Or they are just arrogant and inconsiderate and want to bring their pet with them and could care less how it affects anyone else
@RetroReviews it is not that I dislike dogs. As a youngster. We always had one or two dogs. Then in my forties. I developed an allergy to them. But if a blind person with a dog or a service animal in training comes near me. I will put up with the itching eyes, running nose and the sneezing. They are well controlled and are doing a great service to someone. It is the ones that have to slobber all over you, pester you and stick their noses up your A$$ that I don’t want to put up with. But then it isn’t the dogs fault that they are allowed to do that!
I see so-called emotional support dogs in the grocery store licking and sniffing products on the shelf So when you buy a product in the store it might have dried dog snot and slobber on it isn't that appealing? I've come to hate dogs to me they stink they're disgusting they carry germs and parasites basically people worship them. Not to mention they attack over 12,000 people in the United States every day like clockwork totaling 4.5 million a year and the number seem to keep climbing but yet we're still supposed to believe there are best friends I think not. Numbers don't lie the data speaks for itself. So many stories of them attacking kids and babies and the elderly people disfigured for life or sometimes the dog kills them. So with all that it's like yeah I want nothing to do with dogs
As long as they are well behaved I wouldn't mind
I'd first check the ventilation situation...
I'm fine with animal friendly restaurants I have two dogs I pretty much take everywhere
I love dogs but unless it's a service dog I'm not really down with it.
Would never go. I don’t sure my eating spaces with dogs.. especially a restaurant. That’s asking for trouble
as long as the dogs dont bother me I would not care. since I already have this problem at home
I don’t mind it I love doggos ☺️
You know how much dogs love people so much they attack over 12,000 people every day in the United States. They maul and mutilate and sometimes kill babies toddlers grown adults and the elderly. Of the 4.5 million victims per year attacked by dogs over 800,000 of them require reconstructive surgery insurance companies pay out millions of dollars in claims and dogs kill 30-50 people per year still think their man's best friend? That's a lie from hell they are a menace to society but don't take my word for it Google it the data speaks for itself
@RetroReviews yes they sometimes attack but that’s cause their owners train them to be bad it’s not the dogs fault!
You see that's where you are dead wrong. And you say sometimes like I said over 12,000 people every day so 12,000 people today 12,000 people tomorrow and so on totaling 4.5 million a year that's how often it happens. But I've seen countless stories were these families love their dog they treated it good never abused it or was mean to it but one day the dog just some reason snaps and attacks one of the family members sometimes killing them and when this happens the families all say the same thing that they are in shock they don't understand they treated the dog good they loved on it all the time they took good care of it they treated it like a family member and it never showed any sign of aggression before. That's what happens when you try to live a fantasy of thinking that a dog loves you and as a loving member of your family it is a flipping animal and it's unpredictable and yes many times they turn and attack their loving owners. I still remember the story of Sebastian caban he only got to live on this planet for 3 days because his parents had a dog and his mother coughed it triggered the dog and attacked him killed him. look it up there's countless stories of dogs attacking babies and kids and the elderly they're not man's best friend that is a lie from hell. One woman was babysitting a couple's newborn the family dog that they all loved and treated good ripped the baby out of her arms and killed the baby that woman had to call the parents and say yeah I'm sorry and everything but my dog killed your baby today... What a schmuck people are so infatuated with dogs they don't realize it's not safe having babies and young kids around them but their desire to have the dog is more important than the safety and well-being of kids and family members that's why it's sickening to me. It's like people worship these things. I remember a guy receiving death threats just because he stayed in the fact that a dog killed his son
@RetroReviews you can think what you like
My opinion is that dogs are trained to be bad cause of their owners/ they’ve been abused in the past
@LaurenM1997 it's got nothing to do with that with what I think that's why I said look it up for yourself if you want to know the truth but most dog lovers don't want to admit the truth the data is there and like I said 12,000 people are attacked in the United States by a dog every single day. And most the times it's unprovoked it's just the dog being assholes like they are. And I guess you didn't read everything I said about those families that love their dog always treated it good but one day it attacks them and kills them sometimes. Those are nothing to do with my thoughts or opinion these are facts. These stories have been broadcast on the news. just a few months ago in the UK a 68 year old woman was mauled to death by her two dogs that she loved
@RetroReviews you are so oblivious to what I’ve said but never mind
And you are the prime example of a dog lover that cannot admit the truth when it stares you in the face somebody presents you the truth you gloss over it and don't even address it.
@RetroReviews I can admit the truth whenever I just don’t play dumb
@LaurenM1997 another woman killed by dog she was caring for this is how much those dogs appreciated her https://youtu.be/njhfRhl-y7U?si=FnIBhChrs_hjrFEN
@RetroReviews I really don’t care for arguing with you I like dogs that’s my opinion and that’s it.
You need to listen to what the guy says towards the end you are the one that's oblivious to what's really going on. The dog lovers are like that they want to be in their bubble and think they're experience is reality.
https://youtu.be/wrookbiXwKY?si=vo0UmXhpYlSyiRkC
@RetroReviews I’m not listening to any of those videos thank you I’ll stand by with what I’ve said.
Because you can't handle the truth
@RetroReviews goodbye you are blocked and so annoying
imagine giving you shit cause you like dogs lol. ill block him too
@Still-alive I just laughed at it tbh cause it’s ridiculous
If they allowed dogs but banned men, it would be perfect.
I'm fine with it.
Sure, especially service dogs
Only if she completely over the guy.
the more the better
It's not my cuppa.
