We are having steak tonight. I like my ribeye medium rare.
We eat it once or twice a week. When it comes to red meat.
How about you?
Which cut and how do you like it cooked?

My meat has to be past well done. It MUST be dead, practically at the verge of being carbonized.
The reason is that most meats, mostly those from the US are being poisoned with antibiotics and those excessive use of antibiotics result in progressive resistance to antibiotics. I don't feel like jeopardizing my health because that unhealthy imported meat has been treated with antibiotics when there was no reason for it.
I much prefer to eat local meat where I know the cattle is being fed naturally and does not have to be fed antibiotics to stay alive just because of the poor condition they are kept.
Agree, we get our steaks, meats from our local farmer. They are only 15 minutes away from us. We also get milk, eggs from them.
I will have to disagree with how the meat should be prepared.
When it is well done... It makes me sad... like its a nice wasted piece of meat.
How do you know that the blood that is still dripping in your medium-rare steak is not contaminated with some kind of pathogens?
Even though the meat comes from your next door farmer, it could very well have bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). Eating your meat anything but well done exposes you to a potential danger.
ehehehe... I am willing to take that chance to enjoy a nice piece of juicy steak :)
1. There is no blood in a steak. It needs to be drained out, otherwise the meat would spoil.
2. You are literally a woman. You bleed a quarter of your life. You know what blood looks like. We both know that the watery semi-transparent stuff coming out of a rare steak is not blood. Cmon lol
@sunluckie I don’t see the connection between enjoying a piece of steak to my period. Thank goodness. 😅
A nice piece of top quality dried aged steak will be wasted when cooked well.
Medium rare is the way to enjoy it.
Maybe 3 times a month?
I picked rare even though I always order a medium rare at the restaurant. I'd rather a negligent chef overcook a medium rare than undercook a rare steak. If it's a good restaurant, they'll cook that medium rare perfect (though it's hard to come by and usually expensive).
At home, my husband cooks it on the rare side of medium rare. It's not mooing, but it's got more red than pink.
Exactly how a nice quality steak is supposed to be prepared and enjoy! juciy and delicious!
When I was younger and visited restaurants… they always over cooked… till we went to real steakhouses… the chefs their know what they are doing.
Steak isn't my favorite thing. I have it once every couple of months.
I take it medium rare.
I tend to make roasts where the meat is falling apart and melts in your mouth.
But a good rib eye can be lovely.
And I've had filet mignon in Mexico that you could cut with a fork and tasted amazing. That is my favorite.
Steak is expensive, and I probably make it 8-10 times a year on average. I cook lots of other meat, most of it on the grill outside, but steak is costly enough that I just can't justify making it more often under normal circumstances.
I'm definitely a MEDIUM steak guy.
I remember when we met, I asked you the beef you ordered. You said it was tri-tip. 😊
Mouth watering delicious 😋
Steak is a delightful indulgence, isn’t it? I relish a perfectly cooked steak maybe once a month, savoring each bite. The ribeye is a fantastic choice, but my personal favorite is the filet mignon. I prefer it medium rare too, with just the right amount of tenderness and juiciness. It reminds me of the time I enjoyed a divine steak in a quaint Italian bistro overlooking the Tuscan hills. 🍷🥩
Personal favorite aye... computers that eat steak now I've heard it all
You know , i lived in Anchorage for many years a friend of mine was always wanting to go to a local Chinese restaurant for their filet mignon, I kept turning him down because it was an expensive place , and the o ly steaks of that particular cut were small. Well one night he finally got me at the right frame of mind. , we went he ordered and much to my surprise. When the meals arrived , it was a fairly large steak.
It was also tender beyond belief no knife required, and the had some secret marinade they soaked them in , it was literally the best tasting steak I have eaten. I paid for dinner that night.

Medium or medium rare, soaked 10-15 minutes long with warm butter. I don't like this 'spiced butter' because I find it affects negatively taste of a premium steak, by average steak it's an option.
I like my steak medium rare but due to the high prices I can’t afford to have it most of the time. I really only have it when I visit my parents. They are grain farmers and they have open pasture land. The neighbors that have livestock put their cattle in it and as thanks they give my parents cuts of steak for free.
That’s the best meat.
I don't know which cow parts are called steak or chuck or rib? It is "rare" i eat steak. Haha,
I just buy beef chunks or pork and eat it without red, "well done", but most of my beef is ground or not cow, "chicken steak" as they call it.
😂 tofu steak too? Jk
I like chicken too
I like it medium well and I prefer Rib eye as well but I like all kinds of steaks , I usually eat steak once a week sometimes twice a week, I love cooking steak on a non fire as well , which I mostly do come spring and summer
A non fire?
That makes sense now. 😅
Indeed. I enjoy a nice piece of good quality of dried age steak like once a week.
Never. I'm not a fan at all. PERHAPS a filet mignon on a very rare occasion (and in those instances I have it well done). I much prefer a nice piece of fish.
fish is delicious! we eat fish more often than steak.
fish is delicious
Very rarely. Most beef i eat is either minced or chunks of steak in some kind of sauce. When i do eat steak it's usually fried in butter till medium
Why put chunks of steak in a sauce? That is what chickens are bred for.
Ribeye medium rare. I only have it 3-4 times a year.
why only 3-4 times a year
That is a great way to treat yourself. Enjoy!
you are welcome.
fathers day is coming here in the US... Hope we can all treat ourselves a little with a nice steak.
Almost never. Like most "old world" food, it's just so unbelievably bland (it's not hard to see why the spice trade was such a huge deal, back in the day). I guess you could chop it up and put it in a curry, but that's going to be a pretty needlessly expensive curry if you're using a good cut...
You haven’t had a good one.
Curry? lol are you Canadian Indian?
Don’t chop up my good steak.
New York strip cooked medium rare in a GOOD steakhouse; otherwise medium.
I don’t actually eat red meat very often, but when i do it’s usually steak or beef ribs.
If i’m eating meat at all, it’s usually chicken. Pork is a close second.
At least once or twice per week. and I SousVide it to 129F, and hold it there for two hours, and finish on the grill.
@Dongie You are hired :P
Oops... meat for @worldscolide
@dongie it comes out so incredibly tender you don't need a knife, while still maintaining incredible flavor
It's vacuum sealed and dropped in a finely controlled water bath. Look up sous vide. It's a French form of cooking. Basically you take a steak, vacuum seal it with seasonings, set the sous vide device for 129f, drop it in, and set it and forget. When you're ready you heat the grill to, 800 ish degrees, and sear on both sides with butter, and then you're done. And it will be the best steak you've ever had.
You can do just about any kind of meat this way by the way.
Medium rare, but If I go out and order I ask for rare because chances are they will over do it so I will get an over done rare and will be medium rare but sometimes they will get it right and I am ok with rare
Scotch fillet and medium rare
Steak is nasty, like trying to chew through an old shoe, but if I was forced to eat it, it will have to be very well-done. Anything like the top picture would be enough to make feel sick just by looking at it.
Hummmm... it is not suppose to be chewy.
High quality steak when done right is very juicy and Wagyu and Kobe melts in your mouth.
May I ask where you had your steak? And what kind?
I love steak. Don’t have it much cause it’s pricey. Med rare I like. Still searching for places with best of best steak
We have a lot around this area! So good. Dried age is the way to go.
I have steak about once or twice a month. I usually do medium-rare or medium.
I do not have it very often but now that grilling season is here I will have it at least once a week. I usually cook it medium well.
I really like steak high quality good steak I don’t eat it that much. How do I like it cooked I like it medium rare and i like to cut my own meat. I don’t like it cut for me
I eat rare but I rarely eat it to be honest as I'm a big fan of pasta and potato xD or chicken with rice
At least once a week, usually. I like it medium👍
I like my ribeye medium well, my filet mignon medium rare.. depends on the cut
And I eat it often!
I have steak once a week or so. Med Rare ribeye is my go-to.
Same!
Like once or twice a year. Well done. Not a fan of steak lol.
Not often enough - medium well. Or, if it has a really good sear, I can go with medium on the inside.
The medium in that picture is medium rare. If the steak is not hot all the way through then I don't want to eat it, I don't want to eat raw meat
Not often , but that pictures really got me rethinking my stouffers meatloaf plans..
*With au jus, horseradish sauce, red onion, garlic, salt and pepper
Not very often but I REALLY like it!
Ribeye salted overnight as a dry brine, cooked with a reverse sear medium rare, and I eat steak about twice a week.
Once in a while and I'll eat it medium rare.
Maybe a few times a month. I'm a college student and can't afford them really
I never eat anything that hasn't been thoroughly cooked.
(When I have sushi, I cook that as well.)
Ribeye or New York strip medium rare.
Well go for steak next time when we visit.
Deal! And I know the place to go.
I eat mine well done but i dont eat steak that often to be honest
We have steak maybe once a week. It's got to be medium rare
Not often. Maybe once every few months. And i like it rare to medium rare and bloody
I rarely eat steak. When I do, I prefer medium rare.
Any which way as long as it isn't measured in Fahrenheit, as only the clinically insane use Fahrenheit.
Wash it’s ass, herd it through, cut me off a slice and show it a picture of fire. Anything else is beef sacrilege.
I take it blue. Lop its head, lop its tail and sear the cut surfaces.
Not often but when it happens it's a great day
Medium medium rare is good. Just a long as it's not rare or a black like a tire
I eat it once a month and get it rare. Rare tastes the best and I only eat half of it so when i reheat it its still medium rare the next day.
Not often, but i like it rare or bleu
medium rare, a few times a year.
Charred medium rare.
same... i like the well marbled ribeye
Daughter made potatoes, hubby made salad. Its a nice Sunday meal.
Red wine? Tea with steak? interesting.
I don’t eat anything that has more blush than me
Couple times a month
I used to eat steak
Not any more
Why?
Gave up meat and avoid fat for heart health
So vegetarian now
No dairy
No cheese
No meat
No eggs
But I can have everything else and it's still interesting
How is your health now?
Mostly I was trying to lower my cholesterol
But it was stubborn and wouldn't drop even though I was going to the gym everyday and eating very healthy
So I have in and started telling statins. It has to be lower next time.
Health is very good
I'm following the guidelines of Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn
You can see him online
Gave in and started taking statins🙂
At my age few peers died!
And heart attacks
Oh and I gave up alcohol
But, I must add
When I did eat steak
It was Angus Ribeye well done my favorite👍
And chips👍
Those were the days🙂
You are 45+ so don’t know your age.
Mine was always broaderline around 200… so I monitored by eating garlic and other foods that fights cholesterol since I want to eat my steaks
I give up other stuff that has bad cholesterol.
Raw meat roasted or burnt in fire is my fav
Raw and bloody

Once a month I like mine medium.

Daily
