Everyone is susceptible to peer pressure, but women are to a greater degree than guys. However, even if it were equal the pressure women place on other women convinces them to make stupid choices, while guys peer pressure (e.g. to be a man, to compete, to be successful) is usually positive.

In a recent question on here a woman who is in her 40's asked whether she should leave her fiancée for a relatively small misstep. Of course, all the women echoed: "yea, leave him girl; you deserve better; know your worth." I'm not going to dwell on this delusional nonsense women have inflated their egos with, but the point was: end your relationship, then in your 40's be single (we promise it'll be great).

One particular women seemed adamant that the dating prospects in a woman's 40's are great, and the other woman was likely to find someone else... Yet, before long this other woman gave herself away. She was married. From the safety of her marriage she suggested other women risk being single for the rest of their life. Not only this, but this other woman claimed dating prospects in one's 40's were actually quite good, because (*gasp) she gets hit on by other men, who surely only want to marry her- not just bang her...

Girls will leave good relationships based on what other women say. "Your guy doesn't get you random flowers? Leave him. Oh, he's at work all the time? You deserve more. You're so beautiful, you can do better. He only does/ has (fill in the blank)? You deserve more. Oh, he did this? Leave him." It's like a constant devil on a woman's shoulder, other women are. "Yea, jump off that cliff, it'll be fun..."

The question remains tho, why??? Why do other women notoriously lead other women to ruin? Maybe misery loves company? The worst thing your girlfriend/ wife can have is a group of loose party girls she calls friends. Clearly they're having fun getting run through and used. Then there's people like the woman in the comments. Delusional, yes. But she's already married. She shouldn't need another woman to join her as a miserable 40/50 yo cat lady. Yet, she still does it, because her own ego is inflated from male attention (and other women likely), coupled with the "need to be right." In this case the need to be right that a woman in her 40's fetches a high value on the dating market (they don't). A need to be right that the male attention she receives is based on how special and amazing she is, not just guys trying to bang.

In sum, the best piece of advice a woman can take is to NOT listen to other women when they give you dating advice, or really anything pertaining to life.

Men cling to the myth of the miserable old cat lady because they are TERRIFIED of being alone. Women tend to invest more into their female friendships while men have been socialized to think hugging their bros is too gay so they are completely touch-staved and depressed if they don't have a woman in their life to provide most or all of their emotional fulfillment. In most cases even when a man makes less than his wife she will still be the one doing most of the work in the home so there really isn't much benefit to having a husband unless you are deeply in love with him and he actually puts in the effort NOT to overwork you to an early grave! Especially now that women have been expected to keep all of their traditional gender roles while also pursuing a career and paying 50/50. A lot of modern wives are paying half the rent and bills and childcare expenses for the privilege of cleaning up after and cooking for a man. Many single mothers are expressing how much easier it is to simply care for their child alone instead of having to also clean up after and basically parent a grown man.

For centuries men could rely on the ability to basically purchase a wife from her father so they didn't need to worry about being attractive life partners who gave back more than they took. The "spinster" / "crazy cat lady" stereotypes gained popularity as women gained more options outside of marrying and serving a man. The fearmongering tactics also don't tend to work very well on a lot of the young women that men are trying to scare into settling for or staying with a low-effort man because they see the older women in their life simply NOT experiencing the crushing loneliness that men describe. My aunt got divorced at 50 and yeah she did struggle to find a man her age, but men tend to like age gaps so she's been married to a successful man 11 years younger than her for 5 years now. My mom dated a wealthy CEO who flew us to New York first class regularly to visit him. This was after my parent's divorce when she was 45 and he was 55, and fit too. The long-distance got too stressful and she didn't want to uproot me so they didn't get married but he certainly wasn't just using her for sex, it was very committed. Then there's my step-mom who was 54 when she and my dad split, she's now been retired by some multi-millionaire with horses and a pool, I don't know how old he is but it's been 7 years now and they are married.

Men severely underestimate how many very lonely men there are in the world who are desperate to find love and don't care if the woman they find it with is their own damn age instead of 22. Who would you believe? The men spinning scary stories on the internet or the actual older women in you know in your life who are relieved and happy to have left their unfulfilling relationships for something better, even well into middle age? The only thing you really got right here is that hookup culture is harmful to women. None of what you said addressed the premise- women's dating advice to other women is bad, and leads to bad outcomes. Maybe single women- potentially spurred by their friends to stay single- live longer. Maybe within the sample taken single women report being happier than married women. But that's not the comparison- all women have are affected by the pressure of bad female dating advice (there's no control group in this time period).
So, we only have to compare women who were not affected by the modern women "know your worth, you deserve better, leave his ass" influence, to those who are. Women 60 years ago were happier. Women 60 years ago were more likely to be in a stable marriage with children. Women 60 years ago did not have the same rates of mental illness. Women 60 years ago did not have the disease/ single mother hood rates that they do not.

To be fair, while I can understand why so many of us care so much, I think it's time we collectively started allowing women to make their mistakes alone, instead of trying to help them. I think we get caught up with our ingrained protective tendencies as men. We want to help them, but most modern women are beyond help as you can see. Also, it will upset you to know but I'm married and I did leave my shitty ex because I DID deserve better.
I tried everything to build a life with my highschool sweetheart who ended up being super irresponsible with money, didn't value me, and emotionally abused me. He was and still is a massive loser who let his life go off the rails when I left and started even disrespecting his family.

All the men in my life told me to stick by him through all the mistreatment, even when he made me pay half the bills and do almost all the housework. Men do not systematically suggest for other men to make horrible life choices. Men do not suggest other men marry hoes- in fact we discourage it. Men warn other men about women with STD's and drama. I agree that women should ask their guy friends for dating advice. I don't think of breaking up with a guy because of female influences though. It's more to do with, like many women, being afraid to ask for what I want in an assertive way, and I assume the guy knows that, so I feel like if I break up with him, he will implicitly have learned his lesson and know exactly how to act with his next girlfriend. 1. Women aren't in as many relationships as they think. The average woman mistakes attention w/ relationships. One of the reason's they feel comfortable saying to leave the guy is because women believe that guys sliding into their DM's or liking them on dating apps, equals a relationship. In reality most women have a very difficult time getting a man to commit to them, as you see on the platform here.

2.
