Ex's new girlfriend is copying everything I do. Why?

We broke up in October 2016 after a 6 month relationship. I met his parents and we were practically living together before he moved away but it didn't work because of long distance and he couldn't commit to being faithful. We were kind to eachother when it ended but agreed it was for the best. Had we both been in the same city I could have seen myself settling down with him.

Pretty much as soon as he ended things he began sleeping with a girl he has known for around 4 years from Uni and I was devastated but decided I needed to try and move on. To my knowledge he will not ask her out, has no intention to but is sleeping with her (she desperately wants to be his official girlfriend).

I had a snoop on Instagram and I was shocked to see she has been mirroring almost every post I have. If I take a selfie, she posts a selfie shortly after. If I post my artwork, she'll then post something saying she would like to try to be more creative. The other day I decided to cut my hair and posted the result... not even 24 hours later she did exactly the same. She constantly posts love quotes too which o suspect is to get his attention.

I've now made my account private and blocked her both on Instagram and Facebook. Why is she doing this when he is sleeping with her and not me anyway. She won... My ex and I don't even follow one another and blocked eachother on everything so I don't get her behaviour.

Maybe she wants to be you! I don't mean ACTUALLY You lol and it doesn't mean she's jealous and wishes to looking like you in anyway. She probably really not only likes him but wants to make it work. So she sees you as a role model, she wants to fit your shoes, may be this isn't normal between ex and current interest, but she has clearly seen you, she's aware that you were with him therefore she knows that this type of woman will win him over that's all. I know that the Facebook stuff is weird but it's actually cute, this behaviour is young. Don't block her, take her under your wing.

Since they aren't in a relationship, technically she didn't win anything. Looks like he just wanted a rebound after your relationship, and she feels like the rebound so she wants to be "girlfriend material" like yourself. Maybe just maybe she's hoping he would settle down with her if she acted/looked more like you.

What an ego boost jeez. Good idea about blocking her. It seems you both are lurking and creeping eachother on social media, its healthier to keep her blocked.

Well if I was worth enough to him he wouldn't have ended things with me. He claimed I was a good girl but he wasn't looking for a wife right now and wanted to have fun.

From what I can see on her Instagram she parties, she drinks a lot and is an extrovert like him. I am the complete opposite so why would she try and change to be like me when he is not even with me...

I’ve experienced something similar (I’m the ex girlfriend). I think the most frustrating part about it is not knowing whether your ex has given the new girlfriend reason to feel threatened and therefore want to copy you or if she has just done it off her own back. Either way you have to try and just be the bigger person and not let it get to you, she hasn’t won if you’re living in her head rent free. Whichever way round it is, one or both of them are clearly obsessed with you! I hope you’ve found peace with it all now x

if she really won he would be dating her not just sleeping with her. she's coping you trying to make herself come off as girlfriend material, since the ex-dated you, which he already assigned her a position in more ways then one.
