Why are most women bad at telling stories?

That's funny. The past week I've spent 32 hours listening to the podcast My favorite murder, in which two women (coincidentally) talk about their favorite murders. They're absolutely hilarious and really good at telling these stories. This dude in the video took a full minute to get to the point and then he's just parroting bad stories he's heard :D irony

I mean clearly these stories aren't that bad if they deserved a spot in his comedy show? Hmmm

That's honestly just a common stereotype or quip between men about women. However, women aren't necessarily bad at telling stories per say but in many cases some women like to give a more detailed description. Also adding extra details so that the listener doesn't view them in a negative light.

But don't good stories at least provide you with context? Many women just like to add in context in their story to portray themselves in a particular way.

Understandably, it may seem quite annoying but you might need to surround yourself with more decisive women because most of the women in my life are quite straight-forward in my opinion.

Anyway, our stories are like our shopping. It’s detailed, descriptive with seventy branches off (that we’ll come back to later, don’t you worry) instead of just getting to the point like men do

Because most PEOPLE are bad at telling stories. Good storytellers are rere, but they come in any shape, size, colour or gender.

My experience is that women can't get from A to B without going via F, M, P, R, U, V and Z. You get far too much irrelevant detail and you either forget where the story began or you just lose the will to live.

Men and women tell stories the same way they shop. A man will go to a story with a goal in mind, walk through the store directly toward where whatever the point of his visit is, maybe there will be something that catches his attention along the way, but a rare and short sidetrack aside, the trip is pretty much a straight line to the point. Women go to the store with something specific in mind, but will happily back-burner that and zig-zag down every aisle, look at dozens of different things, take a ridiculous amount of time, and quite possibly forget what they came for in the first place.

They're too dry and factual. When men tell a story we embellish it and add little side notes and anecdotes that make it entertaining.
