You know, I could say the same for your gender anon- guys do it to us as well.
Trust me, I've had guys go from talking to me everyday, to suddenly disappearing without a trace, or reappearing out of the blue saying how "busy" they've been and that's why they couldn't reply back :
My point is, ghosting isn't a gender thing; some people are just too afraid or immature to tell you the truth. Leaving you wondering what happened. But for the sake of your question, I'll see if I can answer this from a female's perspective:
If someone ghosts you, it's probably their way of trying to "spare your feelings." They don't want to outright say they don't like you, so instead she slowly stops texting or talking to you until you get the hint and cut ties with her. That's what they want you to do.
When someone ghosts me, I stop reaching out or making any attempt to connect with him. I used to think it was my fault or I did something to offend or hurt him, but usually it's them (usually, I'm sure there are exceptions).
Best thing to do is not even worry about it: delete them, don't reach out to them anymore, and move on with your life!

It has nothing to do with you. Lots of girls including myself have had experiences where we rejected a guy and 1 or 2 guys went all batshit crazy on us and brought us down. Some girls might just be too scared to tell you they're not interested or they want to play hard to get.
Because they fear that he might not accept no for a answer
