Why is she avoiding me?

So this girl at work keeps looking at me but quickly turns her head away when I go to look at her, she's constantly doing this... this week she has started avoiding me, but this isn't the first time... it seems to go in cycles but is it possible that because I've played my cards close to my chest she's getting confused which is resulting in this behaviour?

l also notice that she struggles to look me in the eye, once i was walking to the toilet and when i walked around the corner and noticed it was me she quickly looked to the floor

She doesn't feel comfortable around you and was just curious about you. Now that she sees she got your attention, she is trying to avoid any problems, especially at work. Just leave it alone. That's why I try to avoid those situations before it makes the guy think I'm interested in him in that way when I'm not. Just tell her to stop doing that.

but she'll go back to being interested again, whenever i smile and say hello she'll say hi and smirk and look to the floor like she's trying to hide her face

Again she is only being friendly. It has nothing to do with that. She is overall a shy person, perhaps a bit insecure, and she's probably not aware of the things that she's doing. It has nothing to do with being interested in anything. She is just overall again being friendly. Everybody does that. Plus at the same time she's embarrassed.

Shy people do that when we don't want to act like a fool in front of somebody. Because once we start doing something like that, it can either stop bullying, or rumors. She is an eager to please person. So anything that she does will be based off of the reactions and actions you take. Anything that you project, she will mirror back.

Not interested in what? Dating you? How can't you just be incident just dating you when she's a stranger? At the same time you are a co-worker. That is not something that's very appropriate. At the same time does she even really know you and who you are as a person first well, you're not even friends with this girl. Most shy people usually don't like rushing into a relationship with people they don't really know. At the same time they don't want to just date anybody. At most you could be just crushing on you, but a crush is just a crush. It's not that serious. She will get like that with practically everybody.

Maybe you can still try to become friends first or at least closer.
