Why do people mirror behavior? Why might this person be mirroring me?

A new person has entered my life and we have spent a lot of time together. I have some quirky behaviors that are certainly unique. I also have quirky & unique ways of speaking. She is starting to pick up on them and do them herself. So far, I have no way of knowing if this is purposeful or subconcious mirroring. Why do people mirror behavior? Why might she?

Mirroring allows individuals to believe they have things in common; she may have a crush on you, but not enough information was provided to be sure. Perceived similarities can be the basis for creating a relationship. It's both a conscious and subconscious behavior.

We definitley flirt and banter a lot. But we also share a two bedroom condo. So its a weird situatiom where I believe we have a mutual crush, but we live together, so we are wary of anything.

It may also be unconscious. Neurodivergent people tend to do this without being aware.
