She never texts me first but always responds and seems excited I hit her up?

I’ve been texting this chick for a few weeks, we’ve known of each other for about a year or so. Every time I text her she always responds in about 30 mins or less. Most of the time says my name with an exclamation and follow by a how are you! Etc. the other day I hit her up and asked how her day was going and she gave me a mini paragraph and asked what I was up to. Then I asked a question about what book she was reading then she gave an even longer text and asked what books I was into etc. she always is responsive in her texting and seems down to hang out, chill. But she never intimates texting. Only time she has was hitting my DM on instagram commenting about a story I had or reacting to something I put up. Am I wasting my time with this women?

I don't think you're wasting time.
But the question of why she doesn't initiate is the key (as you know.) And we can't know why.
If you really want to find out if you are wasting your time (be certain), stop messaging and see if she reaches out.
But there could be several reasons she doesn't start it. I don't want to guess. That's women, for you.
