Why does my female friend intervene in conversations I have with other women?

Yesterday evening I went to a bar with a few friends to celebrate my sisters birthday. one of my friends Michelle kept on intervening in mostly every conversation I was having. Every time I was talking to another female she would instantly walk over to find out what we were talking about. Then i bumped into one of my old neighbour and we were having a chat and she again came up from across the bar and joined the conversation. I’ve noticed it a few times and I’ve just let it pass. She later got drunk to a point I had to call her boyfriend to come pick her up as it really got out of hand.
ladies, is this something you do/done? if so why?

She could be jealous or maybe she’s just bored and looking for attention
