How could this lady be so rude?

I work in customer service at a front desk for a spa. I’m still in college and pretty young. I basically greet people with a smile when they walk in and help them and sell packages. Sometimes I have another person at the desk next to me if it’s busy.

I just started this job and let me start off by saying I’m a woman of color. I won’t say my race but I will say that I’m not white. I’ve been told many times that I’m beautiful or pretty snd I've heard it for years now and gotten lots of compliments on my appearance. I don’t get tons of male attention but I think I’m an attractive young woman. I’m also put together.

The women who work next to me at the desk I would say are also attractive. There’s one who’s the manager who trained me and is so sweet. She’s married and I don’t think she’s a knockout but she’s attractive and is blonde and mid 20s. She’s super bubbly too. Today this middle aged white lady came in and was showing my manager graduation pics of her son.

I didn’t think too much of it at first but she went straight to her side of the desk and showed my manager how cute he looked and not me. Also when she finished her appointment I stood up to check her out and she walked right past ne to check out with my manager. The funny thing is that the lady was nice but she said how her son was graduating college and my manager asked what he was studying and the lady said finance.

Still didn’t pay attention but when the lady left my manager turned to me laughing and said how moms always try to set her up with their sons. She couldn’t stop laughing snd I was a little offended because the lady snubbed me and went right to her. I didn’t take it too personally because I’m a different race then them both but why did this happen? Lol. Even though I get called beautiful ( a lady told me yesterday) stuff like this still sucks.

Don't take it to heart, people like that exist and they can be real sucm of the earth when they behave like that, just know you did nothing wrong, race doesn't matter, it's the behavior of the individual and how they behave. That woman, is most likely a Karen from the description and age alone.

Don't let some snubby Karen bother you too much, she's just going around being high and mighty and no one is buying it. Pity such people, because they think high of themselves and think poorly of others, especially those they don't know so well.

Some people are just racist and some people are rude to people they perceive as "the help", staff they see as beneath them.

So.. she wasn't rude. You just got upset because she didn't acknowledge your beauty and gave someone else a compliment... Correct?
When people compliment you do they always give compliments to the people surrounding you as well? Or is it only rude if you're the one being ignored?

Sounds like your ego just got bruised.

People are allowed to find others beautiful and give them compliments. It doesn't mean you're ugly just because they didn't acknowledge you as well.
