Why do we put celebrities on a pedestal for being attractive and talented? when they are just regular people like us? Why do some people idolize celebrities by screaming and fainting when they see them in person, by making shrines for them, and by bragging about meeting/seeing them in person etc. I don't get it?When I look at celebrities I see regular people with talents, which is a norm, its normal for human beings to be talented, and so I treat them like regular people, with kindness and respect but I do not put them on a pedestal and see them being better than I am or better than other people because they are not better than anyone, they make mistakes, they cry, they experience pain etc.Why do we think we know these celebs after seeing them on our screens? the fact is though that no matter how much we think we know them they are strangers to us, we will never know what really happens behind closed doors in the lives only they know the things they do away from the public eye...
Does any one else not find it weird how celebrities are Idolized by some?
I used to think pretty highly of some celebrities. As I got older and sort of watched the trajectory of their careers, I started to notice how unbalanced some of their lives are. They're very competitive, and they need validation on a large scale almost like it's an addiction. In some cases they will never achieve enough to fill whatever is missing inside and be happy. That's how I felt when I saw a clip of Jennifer Lopez crying because she didn't get nominated for an Academy Award for Hustlers of all movies, or one of my favorite competition reality show competitors on Instagram talking about training to do another and another marathon, but never settling down or staying in a relationship. These people were heroes of mine, but at some point my life became more interesting to me than theirs. They're very career driven, and I started to feel like they're busy ACTING like they have everything in life, while I was actually living an exciting real life, with the love stories, tragedy and everything.
Their talents are often worthy more endorsement the more it's spoke to people. I would endorse Eminem over MGK for millions of reasons. By extension that means I idolize Eminem above other's. I think this is a very normal feeling to have towards someone you like who's talented. Therefore no I don't find it weird. To people who idolize MGK I would 100% disagree with them but it's not weird. People have different tastes and reasons. Whether I find them dumb or not.
I know many people who like various celebrities who are talented but we do not idolize them and we treat them and see them like average people so i still fail to understand why some people idolize celebs and pass out when they see them in person, scream for them etc.
Again normal stuff. Why you probably don't see it as such cause your not in the average. With ethier more selective tastes or simply not average view. To be clear here I am not saying been out side of average is bad. In fact that's a good thing in my view. And myself is for sure not average. But sensatonialsm is very much a thing that draws in people in normally.
A daft but good example is most people like pop songs. It's the norm but that's not me saying it's bad to not like pop songs or to like them. And myself ain't much into pop. But if most people are into it, it becomes the normal. But if you still disagree that's fine we will have to agree to disagree :)
For me, there's a difference between idolize and adore/admire/fantasize/look up to. I take my male celeb baes seriously lol. As for the females, I used to look up to Beyonce, Vanessa Williams, Gabrielle Union, etc as a kid. But as you get older, you realize theyāre not that different from yourself aside from fame/riches/plastic surgery so yea i dont really look up to anyone now aside from God
Itās weird how people idolize the kardashians as if they arenāt talentlessā¦ I understand actual talented people like singers and actors or even some models. But these random āinfluencersā need to stop being idolized. At this point, anyone can be āfamousā
