Why is my mom such a controlling hypocrite?

My mom told me not to shave my legs because you need hair to keep out the impurities. Ok fine good whatever. But then I see she has razors in her bag and bathroom and she shaved!!! And as if that isn't enough she told me no bikinis or short shorts yet she but a see through bikini and wore short shorts to the store without and underwear!!! and then constantly bent over to ''get things'' and like wth? Then she lied about shaving I'm pissed.
So anyways I shaved my legs and my sister did too and she was looking really hard and then she asked my sister ''did you shave your legs'' with an attitude and she said yes my mom goes ''why are you shaving your legs?" My sister is 16 like seriously?

I understand the question. However, the line that concerns me is the one about her attitude. Does she talk in a rude manner often? Does she act strange, controlling or unfairly to you or other family members?
This may be reading too much into a stranger's situation, but your frustration and view of her as a controlling hypocrite gives me the impression that you've harbored these feelings from before.
The point of my reply is, I think she behaves inappropiately.
And ignore this is if i have projected way too much onto the situation, I'm new to the page.

The impurities thing is a lie. It’s the 21st century, we have soap and hot water, and it’s easier for people to wash themselves and stay hygienic with less hair.


It sounds like she just wants you to dress modestly. She’s being protective of you and doesn’t want you attracting the wrong attention. She’s older so she thinks she can look after herself better.


Giving her the benefit of the doubt, I think she’s just worried about your safety. But, of course, it could have been communicated more directly.
