I can't really not hold the door if someone is behind me. I feel like it's rude just to let door close on them. I remember being bullyed for doing it because they said I was being a 'nice guy'. It was around the time hating incels was popular. Was alittle frustrating of a time because I wasn't being nice to get laid, was just being nice because I don't want to be a douche.
It's usually me doing the door holding, but if a woman does it for me, I smile in response and thank her, naturally. What other reaction would I have in a situation like this?
A dozen times just this week. Others held it for me too. Nobody acting anything but polite. So glad my area doesn’t have issues with this. It’s a human thing to do here. Normal.

I mean isn’t that just common courtesy regardless of gender. I do it all the time whether it’s to strangers, if I’m on a date, to family members, etc. now I’ve never got the car door for a man but it’s just never crossed my mind that they would need help opening the car door. If it ever seemed like they needed a hand with that I would just open it because it’s literally just a door
I’ve never had a grown woman hold the door for me, but a young girl has! It’s exactly moments like that that give me hope for our society and species. Ell oh ell!
It's funny to think that this isn't normal in most countries. It's common curiosity where I'm from and doesn't mean anything whether a guy or girl does it.
Yes, I have several times. I will hold the door for whoever is around. Gender does not matter. It would be very rude to just let a door slam in someone's face.
Yes, I’ve done this. The worse reaction I had was when a guy told me that’s something men are supposed to do. Like he was saying that because I did that, it means I’m not feminine enough.
I hold the door for everyone if I think about it. Then someone holds it for me. Pay it forward. Rule of thumb when driving to work is let one person in for every time you merge.

I don’t care if it’s a man or woman or a dog, but I’ll hold the door open for anyone. It’s just a nice thing to do with zero effort or thought for me
You are very sweet
@Nerdvana thanks 😊

I've had the door held for me by woman on countless occasions. It's the decent thing to do for anyone.

Yes many times The gender doesn't matter , being kind matters :)
@KatherineJ
Let's just say more times than I care to remember... After all, common courtesy costs absolutely nothing.
Sure have! When his hands are full carrying all the groceries or the babies, why wouldn’t I help him by holding the door?
I’ve had a lady not hold the door when I was carrying a large box. I though she was rude.
@MikeInHawaii that’s terribly rude, I agree.
Yes I have, they panicked and held it for me and made me go ahead of them, honestly I thought it was very sweet.
Yh multiple times, because I was walking past and a guy was behind me. Can’t slam the door at them coz that’d be rude af

I hold it for anyone I see, I think it's a social norm and common courtesy to open the door for the person behind you
I have and a lot of them literally refuse to go in. They wanna hold the door for me and don't wanna let me do the same.
