Outclassing like money/status class? I don't think so. It's generally an instinct to enjoy being around people who challenge you tho, it wouldn't surprise me at all if people aren't attracted to someone who is at a "lower level" in every area than them. Ideally yknow you have the mismatch so both parties can lead/teach in some areas and learn/grow in others. It would be boring to have to be the teacher and leader in ALL areas, then it's more like a mentorship than a partnership. I can see why women wouldn't want that yeah, if that's more of what you meant by outclass.

Yeah I don't think that kind of thing is instinctual, I think some people just learn it. Like any other strategy or shortcut to wealth. Nothing to do with nature or seeking a partner.

That’s not an accurate description of hypergamy. Hypergamy is dating and mating exclusively up and across in social status, never down. The term has been broadened to include cheating and promiscuity. As in, if she gets a chance to improve her social status she will even if she already has a good thing.
Hypergamy is absolutely real, and it’s not going anywhere. People don’t usually give up an advantage unless they have ANOTHER advantage. Ell oh ell!
