Girl from my college class is flirty in person, but ignores my texts?

We’ve had the same class for about one and a half semesters now, but never really talked or did something. A few weeks ago, she decided to sit down next to me and chat. She was super nice, showed me pics of her pets, told me lots of stuff and we had a great time, joking around. When it was time for lunch she invited herself to join me and we basically continued chatting all day.

After that I was slowly getting a little warmed up to her, we chatted a bit, but she seems to either respond instantly, in a few hours or she doesn’t respond at all.

The start of last week, she sat down next to me again, she was pretty quiet at first, but I could see her looking up at me a few times and might even caught her trying to take a picture of me when I wasn’t looking. She was always super close, leaning towards me, having her elbow on my desk. I jokingly asked why she’s so close and she pulled her chair far away, but came even closer and told me “Maybe I like being close to you” which hit me hard.

I asked her to hangout the day after, but she told me she wasn’t able to because of her work and after that she seemed off again. Not texting first, ignoring my messages and just being seeming super un engaged online. Could it be that she doesn’t like texting? Or should I cut her off rather than continue trying?

She just wants your time and attention for free. Stop giving it away and get on your purpose. No more texts, and no more free attention. You said '... and told me “Maybe I like being close to you” which hit me hard.'

I wouldn't put too much value in what she tells you. She is using words to get a reaction and then using that reaction to feel better about herself and to inflate her ego. She is wasting your time. When a woman is truly interested, she will make it easy for you.

When this woman was interested in me, she handed me her phone number, told me to give her a call and invited me round for a home cooked meal. Although I wasn't interested in her, it still serves as a good example of what I just mentioned.

Just be more direct. "Let's go to dinner. When are you available?"

If she starts equivocating, hemming and hawing. Basically, won't state a time and appears to be avoiding it. She isn't interested. You're a school buddy, similar to a work buddy.
