There was somebody I used to talk to all the time that I was interested in but then a period of separation happened cause I got busy and now I think they are the most unattractive person ever and can't believe I ever thought they'd be a good match for me. I think if I saw the guy I used to like at work, I would probably not feel attraction to him either. My taste in beauty has changed over the years, and I've become far more visually neutral in my romantic interests than I was 4 years ago. I also expect more out of life now because I've realized how high my potential is. When I was in university at 18, an older guy broke my heart and I was miserable and then when I was 20 I was disgusted with how immature and cowardly he was and no longer had any respect for him either. I had changed and my standards had grown higher.
Yes, it is normal for personal standards and preferences to change as one's life progresses and develops. As individuals gain new experiences, mature, and evolve, their perspectives and priorities can shift, including what they find attractive in others.
Life experiences, personal growth, and increased self-awareness can contribute to changes in standards and preferences. As you mentioned, realizing your potential and having higher expectations for life can influence what you seek in a partner or find attractive in others. Similarly, past experiences, such as heartbreak or disappointment, can lead to a reevaluation of what qualities and traits are important to you in a romantic partner.
It's important to remember that personal preferences and standards are subjective and can vary from person to person. What you find attractive or desirable may differ from others, and that's perfectly normal. As you continue to grow and experience new things, it's natural for your perspective on relationships and attraction to evolve.
It's essential to be open-minded and respectful of others' preferences and to approach relationships with empathy and understanding. It's also important to reflect on your own growth and be mindful of how your changing standards and preferences may impact your interactions with others.
