Why do girls who are physically violent in relationships try to play it off as nothing?

Like my ex girlfriend smacked me twice and told her family and friends that it was a light tap. Also how come no one has an issue with it her parents were in an abusive relationship. She also goes you would bring that out of me and no joke we was playing video games one night when it happened.

As guys we grow up learning, and realizing, that if we hit someone it causes serious and possibly lasting damage.
As my growing up with sisters can attest to, that isn't true for girls. Or at least not for sisters. They only recently, at about my age, realized that hitting people might hurt them.

And I think that's the true core of it. I knew from when I was 10 or so, matured early, that if I swung at someone one or both of us would be injured. My sisters at 20 could still swing at me because, throughout our entire childhood nothing they have done has ever been able to cause any damage. If I don't feel like being hit I'll dodge. If I don't care their hits won't really amount to anything.

It has changed a bit now. Older sister actually learned how to leverage her body for real force and, suddenly, no more violent outbursts.

It is also worth pointing out that to us women and kids are often in the same ballpark. Fragile. And well, I have never really had a whole group of non-fragile beings around me.

This got long. Ultimately none of this is an excuse for her or makes it right. I do, in theory but not so much practice, absolutely support a zero tolerance towards being hit policy.

They've been told that women aren't as much of a physical threat so it doesn't count.

Women are rarely held accountable for their actions and this is another example of that. She plays it off because she doesn't respect you and knows there's nothing you're going to do in return. When I worked in the nightclub industry 90% of all the altercations were started by women.
