Are people on social media more gullible?

I set up a Facebook account the other day and I get message after message from "girls" telling me saying "I love you so much, baby". When I first got messaged, I thought it was someone I knew because they said hi like a normal person, but just after 4 or 5 messages, the send me "I love you so much <3". Then they send naked pictures. I would hate to be in a relationship and have to explain that one! And I get 10 to 20 friend's requests a day. I usually delete them, but the messages still get through!

Then they call me on the messaging app, and yesterday I accidently answered trying to hit decline and it sounded like a customer service person you get from India, except there was a child in the background. I am really curious why they think people are this dumb.

Are guys stupid enough to fall for this? Is that why these scammers think they can get away with this? Do girls get messages like this from "Guys" too?

I am curious. I just started the account because this one publishing company told me social media can get my name out there for when I get my novels out there in the world. Anyone else get messages like this?

I just wanted to get some opinions on this because I get bombarded with messages from these people every single day, and I just hope no one out there is stupid enough to send these people any money. I don't even trust people in real life, let alone people on the internet asking for money. And they will tell you anything. One girl said she was collecting money for children's cancer research.

If anyone out there gets these people, don't send them money!
