I was talking to a friend about my girlfriend i have, the fact she needs a new car, and that while she's not exactly ready to go and buy something yet, that, she should seriously consider buying form him, especially because he and i are friends, and we go way back. When I told her I had told him that she was looking for one, I said "yeah, i told him my girlfriend is looking for a car". She didn't really say anything but, because we're not in a relationship, according to her, i was like, well, you're not gonna say anything about how I phrased the word "girlfriend"?
I dont know how else i could have said it. I have a friend, who happens to be a girl. Why couldn't I just say "girlfriend", even though we're not boyfriend girlfriend. What else could i have said. saying i have a friend girl, sounds absolutely moronic

Obviously its all the time the same with girls, its not what u said its how yo said it.
Being a girlfriend is generally the term for a partner. So to say that it seems you trying to show off or living a delusional situation.
Just say your friend. That keeps all Misunderstanding away
But that friend happens to be a girl
So why can't I say "girlfriend"?
I mean i get it, if you're not gay, and you're talking about your guy friends you wouldn't say "boyfriend", but, you get the point

Both is acceptable bc to announce or say your girlfriend is xyz is just for the public. What you do behind the curtains is your business.
The term girlfriend here in this context is only publicly important bc the other girl was not happy with that.
