Do you think my cat is mentally OK?

Question

This is Cleo.

We have another cat and dog who love each other, but Cleo keeps to herself. She sleeps like 99% of the time and almost never initiates contact or begs for attention. Still, she purrs and enjoys it whenever I pet her, pick her up, or otherwise give her attention.
Do you think it’s unusual that she never initiates contact or attention but likes it when she gets it? Do you think I should give her attention more often even though she intentionally goes to the quietest room to slumber the day away?

I had a girl calico cat and for the 10 years I had her she didn't like me to pick her up and hold her. She did sleep with me after my other cat died. Then one day she shut down. I took her to the vet who x-rayed her and did other tests - he said her right kidney and gallbladder were swollen to 3 times they should be. He had to put her to sleep. I was waiting in the waiting room and they let me cradle her in her blanket after she passed. It was something I always wanted to do with her, but she wouldn't let me.
When she was a tiny baby girl, I had taken her to the vet for a physical and I slightly recalled something about getting her kidney checked a few times a year, because her blood came back with something showing up about her kidneys. Vet was real brief about it.
Poor girl, she was probably sick the whole time I had her. Sad 🐈💔

Cats sleep 16 hours a day. They are more active at night, when you want to do your sleeping. Cats are standoffish most of the time. Yet some crave attention and come to you, jump up on your bed, a purr a lot. I even had one that used to climb up my legs for a pet. They roll over on their bellies to have a good belly rub while purring loudly. Then they playfully bite at your hands, but gently. I don't think there is anything wrong with your cat. Sounds normal to me. Just all of them are different in certain ways.

Cats isolate themselves and sleep longer if sick, scared, or bored. Go for a vet checkup, if all turns out fine, give her more attention and see what happens.

Its not abnormal for cats to sleep twice as long as people, but it shouldn't be 99% of the day.

Experts say if you compared a Feline to a human mentally the feline would be considered psychotic. Cats make a kill Say a fly or a mouse. And play with it. Hide it destroy it a psycho human will do the same. Difference is every feline will. Most humans won't

It’s possible the other cat bans her from initiating contact with the host who feeds her or with the dog you own. I know at least 5 cases where older or smarter or stronger pets bullied the weaker or dumber or smaller one. If you think your other cat is territorial you might want to give her away to a family that only has a dog and no cat. It could be good for her mental health if she flees a bullying situation.

I think Cleo just your typical cat who likes to live a cat life of being a loner but by any chance she doesn't eat or drink water by all choices take her to a vet. It's worth to be safer than sorry. Best wishes :-)

Most cars are solitary creatures, they rarely live in groups. Your cat is probably on the edge of normal. I wouldn't worry about it.

That sounds like most cats. She is probably more active at night while you're sleeping.

That's... the most normal cat ever. If you could describe a cats in general, that is how you would do it. Give her some frequent cuddles on my behalf.

I would engage her more, see how she responds to it. She may like you more than the other pets and see only your attention as rewarding.

She's a cat, so no, she's not mentally okay... but this is normal behavior for some cats
