Can you ever truly miss your chance with your soulmate?

If you take too long to make your move and she moves on and starts seeing someone else. If you're perfectly compatible and you know she's the girl you're supposed to marry someday, do you trust that things will work out because they have to, or do you accept that you lost your chance with your soulmate?

I'm not sure I really believe in soulmates either to be honest. But the alternative, a world where we're compatible with a large number of people... How are you supposed to find who will be the BEST match for you?..


A) Find the first "good enough" scenario and settle, knowing that you settled without knowing if for sure you've made the right choice.


B) Enter relationships but never commit, always look for better, never happy with the now.


C) Stay single forever looking for "the one"

Wall of text: Saying that there "is" a soul mate. You'd get into all of that other stuff about fate and whatnot. If this is so, you could potentially walk by your soul mate on a street and never even know. You could have a strong emotion while looking at someone. Is it love/lust at first sight? Is it your soul mate? Or is it just the whacked out chemicals in your brain letting you know of a suitable mate?

This is completely up for interpretation. I think if you've already dated your "soul mate" and you're really "meant" for one another. Things would work out regardless of the situation. However, I believe that maybe there are some people that never meet their soul mate. Even if they were destined to perfectly match one another. OR perhaps you've met your soul mate, but never got to know them. I always wonder about people who meet in high school, crush on each other from afar, never make a move/don't see each other for years, and run into each other again later on in their life where they finally make a connection. I personally don't believe in soul mates as much as I believe in soul links. In which case you would have more than one in your lifetime.

If you believe that you've lost your chance with your soul mate. Don't just accept that. Do something about it. Sometimes "fate' needs a push. Which leads to more questions without answers. Are our lives/the people we meet/how we end up, predetermined? Or do we get to go in our own direction? Is our fate the general outcome of our lives? It's hard to answer. Nobody knows for sure. I wouldn't wait around to find out, personally. I'd be trying to find out how the boy felt about me. (WITHOUT DESTROYING THE OTHER RELATIONSHIP.) If all else fails. Trust your guts. Was that person really, truly, honestly, completely the only "one" for you?

The way I see soulmates, they're someone you're destined to meet and have a chance to date. But whether or not you play your cards right once you meet them is up to you. So I think it's possible to screw up your chances with your soulmate. However nobody can know for sure how the hole soul mate thing works or if it even really exists at all. So don't sweat it and keep moving forward with your life as best you can :)

I like this. A lot :) Even though it's a little depressing haha, I find it strangely empowering. If fate is only to introduce us (I met her when I loaned a friend my key and got myself locked out of my apartment...) then maybe it's in my hands now. And maybe if I messed it up that also means I can fix it :)

You can trust that thought, but also get a live in the meantime. Who knows, she might not end up being the one after a few weeks of scouting other possibilities. Besides, you were the one who took too long to make a move, so now the ball's in her court. I wouldn't wait forever to see if she ever passes it back.

This has been my strategy thus far! :) I've tried seeing other girls, but even after 6 months they all either remind me of her or make me wish I were talking to her instead... :-/

I only know from personal experience. There used to me a guy in my life who had all the cards... smart, funny, attractive, got along with everyone in my family and best friends with my friends...We somehow were able to have a relationship across the ocean for three years with no problem. It was difficult, but it wasn't impossible. Then, one day when I went to visit my family for Winter, he decided he wanted to sleep around and broke it off, without even bothering to include me in that decision.

IF I believed in soul mates (and I'm not sure I do) then I think the theory is that you're supposed to end up with them anyway so you've not missed the boat.
