I’ve been working in my new job for just over a month now. I’ve noticed that my manager was very attentive to me at the beginning and very welcoming, but recently she’s just treating me like I don’t exist, especially around other colleagues. It’s starting to make me feel excluded and I feel like I’m invisible.
This has only started happening in the last few days but it’s got me questioning whether my work is good enough or I’m performing well enough at work.
Today there was an event and she spoke to everyone else except me at the event. The only time she spoke to me was when we were in the same room and she sent me a message on the work messenger chat about what deadlines I’ve got coming up and what I’ve been working on. But she could’ve just asked me that to my face.
Then I noticed at the end of the day we were all walking out the event building ready to go home and it was me, my manager and another colleague. I was trying to talk to people about how I found the event but I just got ignored. My manager said goodbye to the other colleague but completely ignored me even though I waved goodbye at both of them. It made me feel rubbish
Why is my manager ignoring me all of a sudden?

That really sucks, I wouldn't know what's up with your manager ignoring you all of a sudden. Maybe something happened that you don't know about? I'd try not to take it personally though. Could be some drama going on that has nothing to do with your work.
If it was me, I think I'd try talking to your manager one on one soon. Like hey, is everything cool? Feel like you've been leaving me out a bit the past few days and wanted to check in. Do it casually so they don't think you're overreacting. That way you get an idea if there actually is an issue or not.
And don't stress too much about it either way yet. You said you've only been there a month, maybe they're still figuring you out too or something came up to distract them. Just keep doing your work the best you can for now. If the ignoring keeps up though and affects your job, then maybe look at other options. But give it some more time first I'd say. Hope it gets better!
Just go in and do your job, to the best of your ability. Don't get involved in the work politics. I think she could be ignoring you, to get you to do whatever she/he wants you do.
I have the same problem at my job, managers talk to me, then ignore me. I don't care, just come in and do my job, I only talk to them when I need to know something about work. I just it professional.
Just go in to work, put your head down, and do your job. keep everything professional. Remember you are work, to earn money, not to be liked by your collegues and managers. As long as your doing your job, and hows suppose to be done, and doesn't get fired. Don't worry about anything else.
I wouldn't bother talking to her about it. Today a collegue came me today, and started speaking about another collegue, I just said, I am not getting involved.
Then only people I need to talk to, are the people are my friends, family etc. Everyone at work, I don't need to talk to them about anything, except when comes to doing the job.
Don't mix business with pleasure. I know its hard, when you don't part of the group at work, its probably better for you. I got involved once, and I only ended up getting hurt by my collegues, never again. I don't talk to anyone at work, just come in do my job, and go home.
You need to get in to that mindset.
I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I say just do your work and go on about your day. If you need to talk to your manager, only talk to them when it’s work related.
agreed, I got involved once, got close to my collegues, ended up get hurt by them. Never again, will I get close to collegues.
You and me both. And it took me 6 years to learn what their true colors are.
same here sasha. sometimes you have learn the hard way. can't trust your collegues, its that simple
