Do you believe in Friendship At First Sight?

Someone asked about love.

I have a 10 year closest friendship with a girl who I got friends with right the moment I saw her.

She called me yesterday and reminded me how we met:

I was 17, It was September and my first year in university.

Suddenly a girl came in and I had a bit of a Resting Bit** Face on, as I was not in the mood of talking to anyone, but as she saw me her face lit up, she came to me and asked, can I please sit by your side? I was caught off guard by how sweet she was, I smiled and told her “Sure”. Since then we have been best friends.

In a short answer No, however you can become acquaintances first. That can happen really quickly and you warm to someone easily. The friendship side takes a while to develop, to become friends and all that entails takes some effort from both. Until then you are acquaintances moving towards becoming friends. I have met people that I have rapidly become friends with from purely chance and random encounters. I think at times we use the word friend too much when actually they are just a person you know and talk to.

But we have been best friends for 10 years, it’s definitely a very close friendship. We hit it off right the day we met.

Yep. Same here with some of mine, it happens but I am being specific with the Friendship thing. What is the thing that makes someone a friend and not an aquaintence? I have people at work who are not friends but are work collegues (admittedly some are actual friends), the same with people I play sport with.

I do believe in it! I met my best friend, a girl a few years back, from the second we were introduced she asked me an intimate question about a picture she showed me. I knew we were on the same wave length there and then and share everything with one another

I like this question. I don't think it is asked often and I consider it unique. Anyway, yes. I actually do. Sometimes you just get that comforting, safe feeling around someone. Like you somehow belong, like you are in the right place with the right person who happens to understand you and you happen to click.
I don't know how to explain it, but it is based on pure intuition. It has happened to me before.

I can connect with someone over a mutual love for music. That has happened many times, and it continues to happen.

I have had friendships like that. The guy I used to go diving with lived in the same town but was a year behind me in high school. We met after high school and we just started talking and we had a lot in common and we found out we both were SCUBA divers and we were friends for a few years before things got weird.

I don't worry about it. You're technically going to have a first sight with every best friend you make and you won't know until after the fact. They were guys or girls who I had something in common with and we consistently did the same daily activities.

I haven't kept in contact with my best friends I made every time I've picked up and moved. I haven't forgotten them.

Friendship regards a personal connection based on compatibility so no. Maybe you can have an instant connection because one of you wears a shirt with your favorite metal band on it, but not instant friendship, obviously.

😅 Friendship at first sight?

Yes I recently got that. There is this women from a blind group and I fancied her. She is older than me and I was mesmerized by her beautiful white eye. I kept quite and later on confessed how much I wanted to be friends with her. She admitted she wanted to be friends with me too. She calls me her son :). I am grateful to God

Since two can have a sense of affection and/or esteem in an instant, it is possible. Belief in it is unnecessary.

Yep. I'm not great at maintenance though. As long as they're the ones who regularly check in and we get together once in a while, it can last decades.
