I decided I will tell people I'm taken, regardless of whether or not it's true cause I hate attention from guys I don't like and 95% of the guys that hit on me are guys I am not interested in. It's not always due to ugliness, it might just be I do not know them and need to screen for psychopathy traits before I give them a chance.

We need more context here. I'd say that a) she might feel your romantic interest and maybe you are pushing her - I do that when I feel not safe or b) she just like to lie and it is in her nature.
